Play Up Your Best Features
How-To: Play Up Your Best Features
by Antonette Alzate
We may not all be blessed with Angelina Jolie's luscious lips, Michelle William's glowing skin, Julia Robert's radiant smile or Keira Knightley's prominent cheekbones, but rather than focusing on what we don't like about ourselves, we should be focusing on the things we do like and learn how to flaunt our best features.
Below are some tips and tricks to playing up your best assets--all without the magic of airbrush or Photoshop!
Complexion Perfection
If you're lucky enough to be blessed with flawless skin, use products that help boost its healthy radiance. Mineral Fusion's Radiance Illuminating Powder creates a soft wash of sheer luminosity while antioxidant-rich ingredients like pomegranate, red tea and sea kelp nourish, protect and hydrate skin for a healthy glow and supple texture. Also, depending on your skin tone, bright pinks like Purely Pro Cosmetics Lipstick in Saucy create a gorgeous contrast to flawless skin.
Plump Pout
Play up your pillowy lips with a pretty pop of color--the lighter and brighter, the better since dark shades make lips look smaller. And since you already have a plump pout, you can just dab lip gloss to the center of the top and bottom lips to accentuate their fullness. DuWop's Lip Venom Pink Shimmer delivers intense shine while nourishing essential oils boost circulation for soft, supple lips.
Eye Candy
Certain hairstyles can also help draw attention to your favorite features. A headband or some added fringe can really play up your eyes. A black headband, for instance, complements the blacks of the pupils while full, blunt bangs that skim the brows accentuate eyes and eye color. To highlight vibrant, jewel-toned eyes, use warm brown and taupe eyeshadows for blues, and purple eyeshadows for greens. When in doubt, check out the color wheel and use shades that are opposite of your eye color.
If it's your eye shape that you're most proud of, like alluring almonds and sexy slits, line them to define them! For almond eyes, use eyeliner on the upper lids and slightly wing it on the outer corners. Line the lower lids only about halfway, from the pupil towards the outer corner. To accentuate your cat eyes, create even more drama by lightly winging the outer corners.

Sky-High Cheekbones
Add even more definition to your prominent cheekbones by contouring it with a blush, bronzer and highlighter. Apply blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Then, using a contouring brush and bronzer (or a darker shade of blush than the one you're using on your cheeks), swipe a line at about a 45-degree angle in the hollow part of your face underneath your cheekbones. Then blend upwards towards the cheekbones. Next use a highlighter, or a light shimmery eye shadow, right on top of the cheekbones and blend it upwards towards the brow bone in a "c" shape. CARGO Contour Kit has all three of these essentials to create the perfectly contoured look.
Long, Lush Lashes
Turn up the drama on your lashes with mascara--no need for falsies here, you lucky gal. To protect your naturally gorgeous lashes, opt for mascaras that have fortifying ingredients like Jane Iredale's PureLash Lengthening Mascara. It creates unbelievable length and curl while nourishing botanicals strengthen and condition lashes to prevent fallout and breakage.
