Last month, DermStore—along with several of our favorite brands— was thrilled to support The Angel Faces Organization, an extraordinary nonprofit that strives to provide innovative healing retreats and ongoing support for adolescent girls with facial disfigurements.

The creation of Lesia Cartelli, a childhood burn victim, Angel Faces is a unique event that helps its participants achieve their optimum potential and develop meaningful relationships with themselves, their families and their communities. The five day retreat provides a safe and fun environment, while also addressing issues such as grief, drama and self esteem.

Each June, twenty girls from ages 11-19 anxiously visit the Angel Faces Retreat. The goal is for them to leave with confidence, new friends and the tools to stay positive and get past their insecurities. In addition to providing a fun, comfortable environment, the retreat focuses on personal therapy and social skills. Activities and discussions include self leadership, goal setting, access to a mental health professional, a spa experience and a private consultation with a corrective cosmetic professional, all of whom specialize in damaged skin and scarring.
