Treating Melasma

Melasma is a disorder of the skin often referred to as a pregnancy mask or chloasma. Characterized as brown spots or patches on the skin, Melasma is generally found on both sides of the face, most commonly cheeks, nose, forehead and upper lip area. Melasma normally effects women during pregnancy, yet is also found to effect about 10% of men. The cause of melasma is unknown, however it is more often developed among those with a family history of melasma. Melasma can be treated with the proper skin care management products. A lightening or bleaching product such as PCA Skin Pigment Gel (Face) – pHaze 13 will reduce melasma pigmentation. Melasma is worsened without the use of a daily sunscreen therefore one should make sun protection essential. Include BioMedic Facial Shield SPF 30 in your daily regimen for best results.
