Home Spa Parties – A New Trend in Relaxation

Don’t despair, however; with all the spa products available out there, it’s becoming easier than ever to enjoy a spa-like atmosphere in our own homes. And if you’re going to pamper yourself, why not invite a few friends over and make it a party?

When throwing a home spa party, you have several options to consider. First, how many people do you want to include? Do you want it to be just you and a loved one—perhaps a best friend, spouse or daughter—or a larger group of friends? Home spa parties are becoming more popular than ever for get-togethers such as bachelorette parties, birthdays or girls’ nights out.

Once you’ve chosen the guest list, you need to decide whether or not you want to hire a professional, such as an esthetician, manicurist or massage therapist, or have guests perform treatments on each other. Because a spa professional house call may be expensive, be sure to tell guests in advance whether or not they are expected to absorb some of the costs so there are no surprises on spa night. If guests will be pampering each other, it’s a good idea to provide instructions on the proper way to perform each treatment or become familiar with each procedure yourself so that you can demonstrate to the group.

To lessen your up-front costs, you can ask each guest to bring supplies, and even assign each one a type of product or spa supply to bring; for example, facial masks, manicure/pedicure supplies, nail polish, makeup, fresh flowers, relaxing CDs, candles or wine. Guests also should be advised to bring a robe and slippers or at very least to dress comfortably.

When creating your home spa, decide where in your home you’ll be holding your party and make sure there are plenty of comfortable seats for your guests.
