This year’s Step Up high school graduates are off to college, and Dermstore was there to send them off at the 14th Annual Inspiration Awards in Los Angeles.

As a platinum sponsor of Step Up, a nonprofit organization that inspires and empowers girls from under-resourced communities, Dermstore strives to build a strong network of resilient young women through career-focused programs and mentorship. “The mission of Dermstore is to help women achieve confidence through feeling beautiful about herself,” says Dermstore President Cathy Beaupain. “The foundation of that is taking care of herself, not only on a personal level but certainly while taking care of her skin and taking care of her health. That is our goal and that is why we exist as a company.”

Dermstore recognizes the remarkable role mentorship and relationships play in driving individual success. You can read more about how Dermstore president Cathy Beaupain views mentorship and how three Step Up teens, including this year’s Step Up Inspiration Awards Teen Honoree, Kimberly Martinez, inspired us at the Dermstore office a few weeks ago. Martinez, who was selected as this year’s teen honoree for her active dedication and meaningful participation in Step Up’s youth programs and activities, shared her story and everyday obstacles. And while these hurdles may be too much for most, she, along with other Step Up teens, is determined to finish school and succeed. “Five years from now, I see myself graduating or having graduated with my double major from Cal Poly Pomona,” shares Martinez. “I’m ready to start moving towards my dreams and help my family.”

The 14th Annual Step Up Inspiration Awards

Step Up held its 14th Annual Inspiration Awards at the Beverly Hilton on the blissfully warm, sunlit afternoon of June 2, 2017. The luncheon welcomed an estimated 850 guests and raised $425,000 for the nonprofit’s after-school programs dedicated to empowering teen girls from under-resourced communities.

This event spotlighted the graduating teens of 2017, and included a graduation ceremony where presenter January Jones and Dermstore acknowledged the teens and sent them off with applause as they announced each college they’re going to. Prior to the event, guests enjoyed a host of booths from some of the corporate sponsors.

Dermstore’s chic and interactive beauty lounge featured a room modeled as a luxury washroom, complete with vanities, mirrors and ceiling-to-floor signage outlining a skin care regimen. Our very own beauty and spa experts greeted guests with the opportunity to explore Dermstore’s newest offering, glow™ by Dermstore, a skin care subscription service that delivers personalized, professional-grade regimens straight to your door.
