Your Future FaceBefore he founded the MD Skincare line of products, Dr. Dennis Gross worked as a skin cancer researcher at the world renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering and Rockefeller University. His study of normal and abnormal skin cells taught him to recognize what it is that makes them healthy and ultimately led to him starting his own practice and creating MD Skincare.
Dr. Gross believes that aging is predictable, and that you can examine the aging patterns of your parents to determine your genetically predisposed future face. He elaborates on this concept in his book "Your Future Face: The Customized Plan to Look Younger at Any Age," published in January 2005 and coauthored by Cara Kagan.
The book focuses on four factors that affect how skin ages: genetics, emotional expressiveness, lifestyle and the skin’s current condition. It includes the “Skin Lifecycle Quiz,” a self-assessment quiz for readers of all age groups (ranging from Level 1, people in their 20s, to Level 4, people 60 and older) to determine their personal skin level. Subsequently, each skin level is then broken down to give each group a broad range of customized ideas on how to slow down the aging clock.
These anti-aging ideas vary according to age and skin type and include changes to your daily skin care routines, non-invasive treatments and surgical treatments. Small changes to your daily routine that may have a significant long-term impact on your skin include changing to satin pillowcases to reduce friction on the face while sleeping, using frozen white or green tea bags to reduce under-eye swelling and puffiness, and applying sunscreen to the back of the hands and one full inch into the hairline.
In addition to these tips, Dr. Gross dedicates and entire chapter of "Your Future Face "to an “Active Ingredient Checklist.” The chapter breaks down a great number of common active ingredients in skin care products and helps readers determine what exactly these ingredients do, as well as what they should look for when buying skin care products.
With this book, Dr. Gross hopes to encourage readers to establish a long-term, trusting relationship with their dermatologist. He is adamant that patients must fully understand all dermatological procedures and feel comfortable asking their doctors about their daily skin care routines. He says, “Only when well educated can one make a decision that will impact their life, and more importantly…their Future Face.”
"Your Future Face" has become an extremely popular book, and is getting rave reviews from readers. Joan Hamburg of WOR Radio says, “I only wish my face had read 'Your Future Face' earlier. Read it and get the skin you’ve always dreamed of!”
Dr. Gross’ MD Skincare line includes the enormously popular Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel, the product that launched the line. The two-step peel includes alpha and beta hydroxy acids, as well as antioxidant vitamins A, C and E and green tea extract, which protect the skin against free radical damage. |
