Attempting to find an alternative to the harsh, drying soaps of the time, Mustela used gentle cleansing ingredients with sweet almond oil to create the first of many skin care products designed just for newborns.
Now, almost 60 years later, Mustela is still creating gentle, soothing products for newborns, as well as expanding to include products for mothers-to-be and the world’s first UV protection line that is 100% chemical filter-free.
Among their Mustela Bébé and Mustela 9 Months lines, they offer comprehensive skin care for babies with common newborn skin problems. Newborn babies often have uncomfortable skin conditions such as eczema, rashes, cradle cap and extremely dry, sensitive skin. Mustela Dermo-Pediatrics provides soothing, moisturizing and healing products for your baby’s irritating skin conditions.
The Dermo-Pediatrics line consists of three different sub-lines that each target a different skin condition. They are all non-irritating and fragrance-free and are safe for even the most sensitive of skin.
First is Stelatopia for baby eczema and very dry skin. Eczema is caused by a deficiency in cell-structuring lipids, which are essential to strong skin barriers. When lipids are not properly formed, the skin becomes weakened and particularly dry. All of the Stelatopia items contain lipid-balancing ingredients to rebalance the skin and help to eliminate dry skin and eczema breakouts. This group of products includes:
Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream - creamy moisturizer to restructure, smooth and lock in hydration.
Stelatopia Cream Cleanser - soap-free cream cleanser for daily cleansings.
Stelatopia Milky Bath Oil - bath additive for cleansing and moisturizing. Especially useful for extreme eczema breakouts.
Next is Stelactiv for moderate to severe diaper rash. Diaper rash is caused by chafing and wetness, usually around the time a baby is being introduced to new foods. Germs thrive in the moist environment, causing the delicate skin to become irritated. Stelactiv is an anti-enzymatic solution formulated to provide immediate and long-lasting comfort, limit the production of germs and repair the skin.
Last is Stelaker for cradle cap. Cradle cap is of unknown origins, though most people believe that it is caused by excessive hormones transferred from mother to child at the end of pregnancy. It is not caused by poor hygiene or allergies and is not painful or harmful to your child. It is, however, rather unsightly and may cause itching and discomfort. Stelaker works to remove the dry flakes of cradle cap while soothing and hydrating to prevent further breakouts.
