Behind the Brand: 50 Years of Innovation
“Beautiful hair grows from a healthy scalp, just like a plant in a fertile soil”
- Rene Furterer, Paris, 1957
Fascinated by nature, Rene Furterer learned in his early days about the therapeutic and aromatic properties of plant extracts and essential oils. “During my childhood in Provence," Rene Furtere said, "I learned some recipes from my grandmother. She taught me about plants and their healing properties.” Rene Furterer cultivated his experience and studies, and in 1957, he innovated the concept of the Hair Spa: a unique method offering personalized programs, rich in active essential oils, that treats both scalp and hair.
“I studied natural ingredients to elaborate formulas that could improve the hair condition. I knew that nature was so rich that it would provide infinite benefits.”
For over 50 years, Rene Furterer has selected plants and essential oils known for their therapeutic and aromatic qualities. Rich in natural active ingredients, they can have purifying, soothing or stimulating properties. Twelve essential oils have been chosen by Rene Furterer for their specific healing or aromatic action.
Rene Furterer was the first to develop programs based on natural ingredients, renowned for their unparalleled wealth. For 50 years, specialists have traveled all around the world to study plants and their impact on health. Plants used in hair care are rigorously selected for their targeted action. Used properly, these plants and essential oils offer delicate fragrances, unique textures natural colors… A magical sensorial experience.
Rene Furterer was the first to offer sensorial pleasure on top of treatment action. Since 1957, regular galenic innovations – Milk-shampoo, biospheres of essential oils – have emphasized the benefits of aromas of the body and mind.
Today, Rene Furterer beneifits from the scientific research of a large pharmaceutical laboratory specialized in phytocosmetology (the science of natural ingredients in cosmetics). Rene Furterer offers more and more innovative and natural complexes that are carefully selected.
“In 1957, I created a method based on the peasant priciple according to which, in order to obtain a good harvest, the soil must be enriched through preparation, plowing, harrowing and sowing with the best products.”
