Azelaic Acid
Azelaic acid is a substance found in wheat, rye and barley. It is known for being effective in treating many skin conditions such as mild to moderate acne when used in a topical cream formulation of 20%. It is also said to help stimulate hair growth. Azelaic acid is antibacterial, it returns disordered skin cells to normalcy, reduces inflammation by killing off free radicals and is particularly helpful in reducing hyperpigmentation such as melasma, also known as a pregnancy mask. Although extremely helpful, azelaic can be irritating to the skin therefore should be directed by a physician.
