Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide is considered an alpha hydroxy acid used to treat all forms of acne. Benzoyl peroxide has become a very popular ingredient to treat such conditions from mild acne to very severe moderate acne. It is typically found in percentages of 2.5%, 5% and 10%. Although very effective it can also be extremely irritating towards sensitive skin types. Benzoyl peroxide works by slowly releasing oxygen into the skin cells, therefore creating an antibacterial environment for the skin. Initial use of Benzoyl peroxide can cause burning, itching, stinging and flaking but these issues usually dissipate after about a weeks use of the ingredient. Benzoyl peroxide is not only great for acne but is also effective in reducing and eliminating blackheads and whiteheads. Say goodbye to acne with regular use of Benzoyl peroxide.
