Comme Des Garcons defies explanation. A Japanese company with a French name, Comme Des Garcons creates perfumes that do not smell like perfume. Originally started as a fashion label in 1969, Comme Des Garcons saw a unique position for itself in the fragrance market, and adapted its award-winning stance to the new venture in 1994. Each fragrance is unisex, and features an odd array of notes, including oxygen, flash of metal, washing drying in the wind, mineral carbon, sand dunes and nail polish. This strange marriage of scents of various parts of life is executed with an unrivaled attention to detail. The end results are fragrances that are jarringly different yet grounded in a familiar basis.
