Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a persistent skin disease that causes the skin to become inflamed, producing red, thickened areas with silvery scales, most often on the scalp, elbows, knees and lower back. In some cases, psoriasis is so mild that people do not know they have it. At the opposite extreme, severe psoriasis may cover large areas of the body. There are several different types of psoriasis. Consult with your dermatologist to determine exactly what type of psoriasis you may have. There are many different treatments available, so it is best to find the treatment most suited to your particular type of psoriasis.
