    Sunless Tanning

Sunless tanners and/or self-tanning products have come a long way since they were introduced over forty years ago; the days of uneven tans and orange-colored skin are a thing of the past. Advances in cosmetic science have perfected the art of the sunless tan, with exceptional products now available in lotions, gels, mousses, foams, mists, creams, sprays, and even towelettes. New enhanced products also provide natural moisturizing agents such as aloe and vitamins A and E to help keep your skin smooth and hydrated. Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is the active ingredient in sunless tanners and/or self-tanning products. It’s derived from a natural vegetable source such as sugar cane or sugar beets. DHA reacts with the amino acids in your outermost layer of skin, where it turns the protein in the dead cells brown and creates the illusion of a tan. Sunless tanners last several days, so make sure to test a small area first. Also, sunless tanners don’t protect your skin from the sun, so apply sunscreen regularly. With so many choices for a convenient, risk-free tan, you can enjoy being bronzed and beautiful all year round.
