I've read that sunscreen should be applied every two hours. However, what if i apply sunscreen in the morning, and don't go out in the sun until 5 or 6 hours later. Would the sunscreen still be effective? In other words, does sunscreen become less effective when it is exposed to the sun, or just when it's on the skin. Another thing, I've noticed some acne on my face after using sunscreen. Is there a brand that you would recommend for acne prone skin? Is there really a sunscreen that lasts all day (AS Durascreen claim)? Thanks a million! Answer The sunscreen is still effective, however certain factors make it become less stable like our skins natural sebum protection, sweating and such factors like touching or rubbing the face. Sunscreen is broken down by UV rays but also by just sitting on the skin after hours at a time. No I don't think you need to reapply sunscreen every two hours if you are indoors - it's not going to breakdown that quickly. For acne prone skin I recommend something light and oil free such as DDF Matte Finish Photo-Age Protection SPF 30 or Dermalogica Oil-Free Matte Block SPF 20. The DuraScreen clinical study does claim that the sunscreens SPF only dropped slightly during there testing. It has been shown to be water-resistant for up to 8 hours. Best skin care wishes.
