Recently, I noticed these small blemishes around my ankles. They look as if they were applied by a ball-point pen. They are not raised, nor do they itch. They appear to be contained to the area that are covered by my socks. Any idea of what they might be caused by? Answer This area of concern could be a number of things, however it sounds like it may be caused by wearing socks. With that said, the actual rash may be caused by the friction of the socks, the material of the socks or the detergent you use to wash your socks. Try to avoid wearing socks for an extended period of time and see if that helps. If it does not you must seek consultation from a dermatologist in your local area for more information and proper diagnosis.
