Answer This is a typical reaction when applying prescription vitamin A products to close to the eye area. Retin-A is not intended to apply above the orbital bone. Unfortunately I have seen cases where doing so has left permanent damage and other cases where it has not. Your only option is to wait it out and see how your skin responds.
