Skin Irritation And Facial Hair | | | For the longest time I have experienced some skin irritation whenever I grow facial hair. It generally occurs in 2-3 specific areas-on both sides of the mouth near where a typical mustache would end and sometimes on one side of my chin. It usually involves redness and dry patches (about the size of pimples, but flat, and all together about the size of a finger nail). When I am beginning to grow facial hair, it is usually slightly more noticeable and sometimes burns, though my picking probably doesn't help. After awhile, the burning generally subsides and I don't even notice until I decide to shave clean again. Then, the area usually stays red but clears up within a day or so. I have never experienced this without facial hair growth. I have always attributed it to sensitive skin that becomes irritated by the hair, but now I am wondering if it couldn't possibly be some condition. I have noticed it since the time I was about 17-18 and I am now 24. I am just wondering what this might be, if not just dry and easily irritable skin. Thanks. |

Shiny | | | I have been using MDForte Facial Cleanser III and MD Forte Lotion II for about 2 months now and I am still very shiny about 2 hours after I shower. I use a setting powder but it seems like it just gets soaked up within the hour. Can you recommend something new for me to try? Am I using too much glycolic? |

Preventative Suggestions | | | Hello Meagan,
I am 27 years old and like to take a preventative approach to aging. My skin is normal and slightly oily on my nose and chin. Currently I use Retin-A micro several times a week to help with cell renewal. Every 12 weeks I get glycolic facials. I wear sunscreen daily. When I wear make-up it is mineral. I currently take fish oil supplement in oil form. Do you have any suggestions on what night cream and eye cream might be good for me? |

Skincare Regimen...HELP PLEASE | | | I am 38 years old and have been dealing with oily acne skin for years. I have recently moved from Redding to Idaho and now I seem to have dry flaky skin with breakouts. I am currently using Transderm gel from the compounding pharmacy in the eve and differin in the morning. I wash with MD formulations sensitive wash with glycolic. Also I recently ordered the cellex c with the B-5. When should I use this. What can I do to not have the dry skin with breakouts? Please advise me of a new regime. I was considering ordering A LA-Roche moisturizer. Is the Trans gel what is drying me out. I look pretty red the next day after I get a newly filled prescription of it. |

Acne Scars | | | Hi Meagan
I am 27 and just relocated to US this July from India. I have always had acne since I was a teen-ager :( Now, that I have my wedding due this March, I at least want to get rid of the acne scars on my face if not the occasional papules that I get on my face. I have tried Proactive and hasn't worked so far. Had Microdermabrasion and the Glycolic peel done back in India too but the scars don't seem to go :(( Help ! :) |

MaMa Lotion And My Current Skin Care Regime | | | Hello, I am currently using cetaphil skin care cleanser as well as aqua glycolic. After i use that I put on Olay regenerist serum which I like very much. I just bought the MaMa lotion, and am excited to use it to see how it will improve some existing melasma and acne scars I have...I see that it is recommended for use every other day, which I plan on doing, but I since I want to continue using the Olay regenerist serum, should i put that on only on the days I do not use the Mama Lotion???
If not, does it go under the MaMa lotion or over? Also, if you have any recommendations for a different cleanser (although the ones I am using now have been quite effective)
Lastly, I understand I should expect some peeling, so is a moisturizer (like the olay serum) necessary to use after putting the MaMa Lotion on??
Thank you very much! |

Acne | | | Hi,
I have adult acne and have been having treatment on and off for several years now. I am 25 and live in London. I appreciate that diet, climate, lifestyle etc have a great impact on the state of one's skin but really am struggling to find some impartial advice here! All of the dermatologists seem to be sponsored by one cosmetics range or another and so all give advice around those products. I am currently trying to decide whether or not I should spend a huge amount of money on a glycolic face peel which is then followed by a course of Jan Mirini products or simply stick with the Dermalogica products which I have always used and just see if the problem improves with time. I am of Caribbean heritage and find that as I have a dark complexion, the scarring is taking a long while to go and so I am careful to wear sunscreen daily. In your opinion which of the products are better JM or Dermaologica?
I hope you can be of some help to be as this skin condition really is toying with my confidence.
Kind regards,
Sara. |

Mixing Products | | | Am in my early 50's, and am using several products, so am concerned about getting the application order correct. I use a 8% glycolic lotion, and Citrix Vitamin c 20%, then antehlios sunscreen.
PM. I use retinol product, revale anti0oxidant, sodium hyaluronate based serum, and a light moisturizer on top. I wait about 30-45 minutes between each application, and so far, my skin is toleration all the ingredients quite well. But I know some actives cancel out each other, and that there are optimal ways to apply, Any tips?
Also, I used to use Ckinceuticals C, Ferulic and E, but had to stop because when I wore it, all my clothes seemed to get stained yellow at the end of the day. I would like to try again, but am worried about this effect-any advice?
Thank you so much, I enjoy reading all your answers

Clogged Pores | | | So for forever I have had clogged pores. A few years back I had a series of microdermabrasion and one 70% glycolic peel. My skin was perfect after that. I am now doing micro again BUT from a school. My skin is peeling from it and I still have my major issues after 3 treatments spaced a week apart. My nose and chin has blackheads and my upper cheek has closed comedones. Also if I stretch my skin anywhere you can see that all the pores are clogged, yick. I also have an uneven skin tone and some evidence of aging. I am 31...I sound a mess, huh? Help! what products should I be using? What should I do?
Thank you.

ACNE | | | Hi, I will give you a little back story....(sorry) I have had acne since I was 13 and I am 24 now. I went on Accutane when I was 18 and would use all the products that the dermotologist would reccomend. After the pills I still would breakout. I have been on Ortho-Tri Cyclen Lo for about 2 years and still breakout but it is definantly not as bad but I just want it GONE. It got a little better when I started using ARBONNE ( Used is for about 2 years), ( Also, getting Glycolic Peels every other week) but I always looked shiny and recently I was told that that treatment is the new Mary Kay and is doing nothing for my skin. So, I have recently switched to Yon-Ka, I have started to breakout again and I cannot get rid of those little bumps that you cannot see unless you are in the sun and then you look gross. Also, I have stopped using foundation for 3 years so I know this is not from cosmetic (Main goal is to never have to wear makeup and people think your skin looks great plus finding a product that clears my skin and helps prevent wrinkles... something beneficial) I am very active, eat very very well and drink a lot of water. I want to find something that is a system and I can stop wasting my money on the duds.... I have heard the skinceutials is great but the same esthetician recomended Yonka???? What should I use? |

Chest & Stomach Hair Removal -> Acne! | | | I'm a 21 year old male with a bit of an acne problem.. i used to have acne on my face, chest, and back when i was a teenager, but my face is pretty much clear, my chest wasn't too bad, and my back was so-so.. anyways, I've had hair on my chest and stomach for years and never did anything about it.. but on nov 18, i decided i wanted to get rid of the hair.. so i used veet rapid action hair removal lotion (ingredients: water, urea, potassium thioglycolate, calcium hydroxide, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-20, ppg-15 stearyl ether, parfum (fragrance), potassium hydroxide, magnesium trisilicate, titanium dioxide, propylene glycol, lithium magnesium sodium silicate, sodium gluconate, mineral oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, acrylates copolymer, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, hyrdated silica, bht.)... it worked in removing the hair.. i left it on for a few minutes and i could wipe the hair off my body.. it did irritate and slightly inflame the bit of acne on my chest though, but after a couple days it went back to normal pretty much.. but around 4 days after i used the lotion, the hair started to grow back, it was getting to be a little bit prickly.. and also, i was starting to get more acne on my chest and also a bit on my stomach (which I've never had before).. anyways, i didn't want to use the veet again in case that was the culprit of the acne, so i shaved my chest and stomach on around nov 24/25.. it's nov 29 now and the hair has been visibly coming back in the last couple days and the acne seems to be getting worse.. right now I've got a bit of stubble on my chest and stomach and my chest and stomach is i think the worst i've ever seen it, it just seems to get worse every day.. and the acne on my face and back hasn't changed at all.. so what i want to know is, what caused the acne and what can i do to get rid of it?? |

Product Advice | | | I am a 29 year old door lover who lives in Hawaii, with medium-dark skin, oily, mild acne, recent acne scars (dark spots) & some fine lines. I would like to use a vitamin C in the am and a glycolic or retin-A at night. I have used all these products in the past witht he obagi line without irritation, although after using hydroquinone my facial skin is way too light and I want to get more color back into it to match my body more. I am considering using the Jan Marini line. What products/ product lines and am/pm regime do you recommend. Am I too young for using all these, I don't want to create more damage than I prevent. |

Oily And Acne Prone Skin | | | I've been using various products to combat my extremely oily and acne prone skin. I've used jan marini, peter thomas roth, ddf, dermadoctor, ole henriksen, murad neostrata, exuviance... JUST A LOT. now i am trying MD forte lotion I and Glytone mini boost glycolic peel 10.8% and ddf acne pumice scrub and clarisonic at night with a gentle cleanser like Yonka. IT is so sad to see my skin erupting in mini bumps like congesting when it seemed to be getting better at first. it wasn't as oily when i started using the products now it's insane again. I'm so sad it's like I've done everything i can. the only thing that kept me clear for awhile were treatments of Isolaz (laser) and silk peels (luxury dermabrasions). I can't afford to keep up and these products all seem to not have an effect on me. It's very difficult and frustrating. am i using it wrong? |
