31 Perioral Dermatitis Or Not?
I think that I may have Perioral Dermatitis. I have red and blotchy skin on my chin, and there are no pimples there. This redness developed this past May, and it goes and comes. I have used Triamcionolone Acetonide to treat it, and it goes away fairly quickly when I use this cream on it. However, I have done some research and have found that using such a cream can make your fact become addicted to the cream and worsen the symptoms. Also, I recently went to a dermatologist and got prescribed Ziana. However, at that time, the rash had gone away, so the doctor did not prescribe Ziana for this problem. Will the Ziana help to treat the Perioral Dermatitis if I am correct in thinking it is Perioral Dermatitis? Do you even think that I have Perioral Dermatitis based on what I have told you? Should I completely stop using the Ziana on my chin area? Thank you for your time!
32 Perioral Dermatitis
I am trying to manage perioral dermatitis. During the summer, I was prescribed tetracycline for the problem. It helped for awhile, but the dermatitis is back again. I have a tendency to want to put hydrocortisone because it temporarily helps. I want to try to manage this in every way I can. I recently purchased the Cleansing Milk by Juice Beauty to wash my face with. I just would like to know if I should look into changing my foundation? I currently use Clinque and have also used Estee Lauder. Can these foundations cause more problems for me? What would you suggest? Thanks
33 Perioral Dermatitis
I have perioral dermatitis and am starting a round of antibiotics. What products are o.k. for me to use? And what should I avoid?
34 Spongiotic Dermatitis
I broke out in a severe itchy rash which was diagnosed ast Spongiotic Dermatitis. It was from my ankles right up my entire body to the sides of my face. It looked like someone threw a pan of hot grease on my skin without the disfiguring. I have been off work since July 16/07, no one seems to know what caused the breakout. My question is because I am 49 could it be caused from an imbalance of my hormones. I am getting hot flashes however still get my period. I have a sensitivity to adhesive in bandages and am allergic to Bactrim. I know of nothing else that could cause this. I do clerical work at the office and use a computer. Do you have any ideas what it could been triggered by? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Cheryl Craig
35 Perioral Dermatitis
I have perioral dermatitis. Is there a way to heal this without having to get antibiotics or go to the doctor? I'm in college, and don't have the money for it, plus there are no dermatologists in my area. Thanks! Petra
36 Perioral Dermatitis
I am a 36 year old female who has just been diagnosed with "Perioral Dermatitis" I have been prescribed oral and topical antibiotics. Can I use a good mineral make-up such as "I.D Minerals"? The problem started from a cortisone cream that was too strong for the face. Thanks
37 Perioral Dermatitis
I have sensitive skin and I have perioral dermatitis. It is under control but I am looking for a cleanser and moisturizer that will not make it worse, something to help keep it under control. What would you suggest? Thank you!
38 Perioral Dermatitis
Hi Meagan, I'm a 22 year old female and have been suffering on and off with perioral dermatitis for the past 3 years. I suffered with it for over a year, first only on my chin, before it was diagnosed. I had tried acne treatments such as Stievamycin (which I had already been on for years and didn't work for anything, including my very mild acne), Clyndamycin, BP (which I later became severely allergic to), salicylic acid, etc. At the point when I was diagnosed, it had spread and was quite severe. From there, I calmed it down to a more manageable state using pure tea tree oil and was then prescribed tetracycline to give it a final kick to get rid of it (or so I thought). Almost exactly a year later, it returned. I tried the same treatment... tea tree oil and tetracycline, but this time, the tetracycline didn't work and caused me a lot of suffering as well, as it didn't agree with my stomach. My doctor referred me to a dermatologist and while I was waiting to get in, I kept it controlled with tea tree oil (which my doctor approved of). As long as I kept up the tea tree oil 3x daily, it was alright and actually completely cleared up a couple of times, but would return as soon as I tried to ween off of the tea tree oil. It would only really flare up if I got lazy about applying it or would feed it by trying to apply makeup or heavy moisturizer to the area. Recently, I got a little carried away in frustration and impatience, applied way too much of the tea tree oil for about a week, and it was quite red, irritated and dry. Then when I finally saw the dermatologist, she believed I was having contact dermatitis from the tea tree oil (when my skin was really just irritated from way too much of it over the past week and had never been like that before). She prescribed me Protopic 0.1% 2x daily for 3 weeks, and then a follow-up, and she plans on treating it (as well as my acne) at that point with Stievamycin (which I have used extensively and does not work). I applied the Protopic 3 times but it only fed the perioral dermatitis and it got a lot worse really fast. I stopped using it and switched back to my tea tree oil, and that cleared it up again right away (and the dryness and redness have already greatly improved since I've been using a lot less of it again). I have a follow up in 2 and a half weeks and I know she's going to be disappointed that I didn't keep the Protopic up, but I've lived with this condition for so long that I know what doesn't work for me, and Protopic was already making it worse. Perioral dermatitis needs to breathe, and this stuff was like Vaseline and feeding it. Also, the FDA warnings about it really freaked me out. What I really want is something to aid in treatment of the perioral dermatitis (to finally get rid of it for good) alongside the tea tree oil, as I can get it clear but only as long as I keep using the tea tree oil. I just need something to give it that final kick in the butt once it's clear, so that it doesn't return again right away. Do you have any suggestions? I've heard some people have success by switching toothpastes. Could this work, or is there anything else? I've already swore to myself that I'd completely stop applying any moisturizer or makeup to the area, which I hope will help as well. If you have any suggestions at all, it'd be greatly appreciated! I'm desperate! I should also add that my skin is extremely sensitive and I have a lot of allergies including BP, fragrance and chemical sunscreens. I also have very mild acne with some problematic pores and the occasional small hormonal breakout, which has improved somewhat with the use of birth control pills. Thank you soooo much in advance, for absolutely anything you can possibly tell me!
39 Excema - Dermatitis
I have had unna boots put on the dermatitis, but not on the excema. Is it ok to use a unna boot on eczema or if not, can I use zinc oxide ointment. I have used Pandel ointment. I also use a lot of lotions to keep everything soft. What else can I do. It is enough to drive me crazy.
40 Contact Dermatitis
I've had contact dermatitis before, and I went to a doctor about it. I no longer have medical insurance, and I believe I have it again. The affected skin is on my penis, and I am wondering how I can take care of it. I am not sexually active so there is no chance of a sexually transmitted disease.

42 Contact Dermatitis
my boyfriend seems to have developed an allergy to hot melt glue. After extended exposure, the skin on his fingers started getting red, puffy and a little blistery, and it itches. After a while it dries up and starts flaking off and now his skin has slightly shiny areas where the reaction developed. If he wears rings on the fingers over the areas that had the reaction, the symptoms return. He's been able to wear rings with no problems before. I was wondering if there's any way of helping his skin so the symptoms don't return or if his skin will always be irritated when something comes in contact with it? Thank you very much!

44 Seborrheic Keratosis Cyro Treatment
Hi - three years ago I had a small seborrheic keratosis on my cheek which a dermatologist treated by freezing - it worked perfectly and virtually painlessly. A new one has recently appeared in the same location and I'm wondering if the new over-the-counter liquid nitrogen wart removers will work on it. Thanks in advance for your insight.

46 Dermatitis And Folliculitis Disaster
About a year ago I had a severe allergic reaction to Clorox 2 resulting in chronic Allergic Contact Dermatitis. I generally have that under control but unfortunately I started obsessively tweezing hair out of the areas I had dermatitis. I have also since gotten that under control but now I have pimples around new hair growth and also what I believe are boils. Since I am one of the 48 million or so Americans without health insurance I am trying to treat it at home with warm compresses soaked in Epsom salt, Staphaseptic, cleaning with Dial gold soap, and wiping with Iodine 3 times a day. Most of the swelling has gone down but during this process I have stopped using lotion on the areas to "dry out" the infected spots. Is this the right thing to do? How long is the folliculitis going to last? And when should I use lotion to help keep the original dermatitis issue under control? I have no idea if I'm looking at dermatitis or infection anymore, it's just all red. Help please.
