46 Dermatitis And Folliculitis Disaster
About a year ago I had a severe allergic reaction to Clorox 2 resulting in chronic Allergic Contact Dermatitis. I generally have that under control but unfortunately I started obsessively tweezing hair out of the areas I had dermatitis. I have also since gotten that under control but now I have pimples around new hair growth and also what I believe are boils. Since I am one of the 48 million or so Americans without health insurance I am trying to treat it at home with warm compresses soaked in Epsom salt, Staphaseptic, cleaning with Dial gold soap, and wiping with Iodine 3 times a day. Most of the swelling has gone down but during this process I have stopped using lotion on the areas to "dry out" the infected spots. Is this the right thing to do? How long is the folliculitis going to last? And when should I use lotion to help keep the original dermatitis issue under control? I have no idea if I'm looking at dermatitis or infection anymore, it's just all red. Help please.
47 Seborrhea Dermatitis On The Face
Hi, I've been diagnosed with seborrhea dermatitis on my face. I had red patches by my eyebrows and near the folds by my nose. During times of stress, the inflammation flares up and I also get red pimple like bumps on the areas. I'm tired of using steroid creams and am looking for an all natural skin care regime to help my skin. Thanks
48 Perioral Dermatitis And Facial Cleansers
I just emailed you regarding facial cleansers, cosmetics, etc. to help reduce the reddness of my perioral dermatitis. I have recently done several rounds of oral antibiotics and would like to find some "home remedies" to avoid using the harsh antibiotics so frequently. I accidently typed my email address in wrong in my first email...sorry...here is my correct address. Thank you!
49 Contact Dermatitis And Artificial Nails?
Hello. I have worn artificial nails for years. I would buy the glue on kind and paint them myself . About 6 months ago, I applied my nails like usual, but a couple of days later I began to have intense itching around my cuticles. I noticed small red bumps that were slightly "oozy", the skin became red and the itching was waking me up at night. I removed the nails, and this condition improved. I have tried numerous times to re apply artificial nails, using different brands and different nail glues and I keep having the same reaction. I have went months without wearing them, and the first time I try to put them back on, the same thing happens within a couple of days. Is this contact dermatitis? Am I now resigned to never get to wear artificial nails again?
50 Hyperlinearity Atopic Dermatitis
Hi, I am a 21 year old female who was diagnosed with eczema when i was 6 months old. I have dealt with this my whole life and know all about it. My question was about my Hyperlinearity atopic dermatitis. I recently found out that this is why my hands have always looked "old" and "aged," with wrinkles/deep set lines over every single part of my hands. I have not found much on the web and was wondering if anyone knew the population who has this and if there was any known treatment for it besides my regular prescribed eczema medicine. Thanks.

55 Poison Oak/Contact Dermatitis Rebound?
Recently diagnosed with contact dermatitis (poison oak). Was initially prescribed with otc Eucerin anti-itch, calamine. Week later the rash spread so bad on both arms, back, neck swelling on face, ears and feet. I looked like a leper. Return to the Dr. after 1 week and said I had a severe case of contact dermatitis, he's not sure now if from poison oak. Prescribed Prednisone 4/3/2/1 (30 tablets of 10mg). At first the rash went worse then subsided and I felt I was healing, no more new outburst after 5 weeks of misery. Now that I am done with Prednisone with hopes of recovery, I am starting to see new rash coming on parts of my body that were not attacked before. Although the rash is not as scary/angry looking as they were on the onset of the spreading, nonetheless, they are tiny bumps, dense and very itchy. Can somebody please tell me what to do, what is going on. Unfortunately I have no medical insurance, paid the Dr. and prescriptions from my pocket, already spent so much on all sorts of anti-itch creams, calamine, etc. Is this a rebound? Also, I have always had psoriasis, in fact when the contact dermatitis started I thought that was part of another psoriasis ready to flare up. The psoriasis on my elbows have dried and never looked better (thanks to Prednisone?) Prednisone I think made me gain weight, I can;t stop eating, can';t sleep even with the prescribed Ativan. PLEASE HELP. Thank you
56 Long-term Perioral Dermatitis Treatment
Do you have any suggestions for how to treat perioral dermatitis that appears in flare-ups that are short-lived, but occur often (once a month or more)? So far I've usually been prescribed 2-3 months of oral antibiotics, after which I flare up again within a few months and have to go back on antibiotics. Is there any better way to treat this?
57 Recommended Cosmetics Allergic Contact Dermatitis
Hi. I have allergic contact dermatitis, and my skin breaks out almost anything I apply on my face and body (shmpoo, soup, body lotion, liquid cosmetics, etc). I have been using Bare Escentual cosmetics (only powdered product), and so far I don't break out their powdered product, but my skin gets dried out, and I am thinking about switching to Jane Iredale cosmetics but I am scared if the products night break out my skin since thier products are liquid base. Do you think switching to Jane Iredale might be a better choice for me? So far I have not found a mascara which does not break out my skin since they all come with the liquid base. Do you know if their liquid form cosmetics is good for someone with allergic contact dermatitis?
