886 Rosacea
I've just been diagnosed with Rosacea with light flushing on my cheeks, some visible capillaries under nose and upper cheeks under my eyes, as well as (under stress and before my period), some deep cyst like bumps with puss and knots (very few though). I have normally combo skin with now occurring fine lines around my eyes as well as deeper lines around my mouth and forehead. I seem to have pretty sensitive skin and really want to see my "perfect" skin back that I've had since childhood. I started using Proactiv, but is dried my so much that I've stopped my membership and got a refund. The redness and bumps have cleared up though. I've been told by my dermatologist to start with Cetaphil and/or Glytone am and pm followed by Metrolotion, with Neutogena sunscreen in the am. But I really want to see rejuvenation quickly because I'm 41 and look like I'm in my late 20's because of healthy diet and exercise. My skin will be the tale tale of my age if I don't do something fast. Also, I've started to get some rash like raised bumps on my chest/back and torso that need attention.(the ones on my upper chest and back are really pimples with puss and some knots, although just occasionally). I would like rejuvenation of my body skin as well as my face and neck. Can you suggest a routine for my facial care as well as for my body that is cost effective since I'm planning on continuing this from now on? Thanks so much, you really are a godsend for those of us who have skincare issues. Have a great day. Hope

888 Sebum Smells
Hello, My question is alittle embarrassing. I have a lot of blackheads on my nose. I have a couple areas where 3-4 of them have joined together and caused a line or mark on my nose. But my real problem aside from obvious pores is the sebum smells. I can smell it all the time. I do have a gadget I use in the shower. It's by Panasonic and it has a suction to it and pulls out the blackheads (some don't budge). When I do this I get a lot of sebum out. After this my nose doesn't smell too bad. But in a weeks time I'm back to it all over again. Do I need a prescription cream? What can I take to treat the blackheads and get rid of the smell. I've tried your Dermadoctor line and nothing worked for me. I will add that I'm not in the best of health. I've been sick since I was 16 (I'm now 38) with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. What Ithink it causing my problems is adrenal exhaustion, hypothyroidism and candida (systemic yeast infection). I probably have viruses and bacterias in my system. Maybe heavy metal poisoning as well. I have been detoxing and taking different products to cleanse myself out but my sebum still smells. I tell you this as it's important how healthy the body is on the inside. I'm eating a healthy diet. My face is very oily and I also have some white heads particularly on one cheek. Because of my hormonal problems I also have some brown spots (dermal hyperpigmentation that won't fade away, I use a good sunblock so they aren't getting worse) and also some red blotchiness. I'd appreciate any feed back you can give. Thanks so much, Cheryl
889 My Skin Is All Over The Place!
Hi Meagan, I am 32 and have had large pores and oily skin for as long as I can remember. I've also been prone to breakouts for years, but wouldn't say I have acne. Recently, a beautician put a small camera on my skin and told me it was combination (very oily in T-zone, dry on cheeks and chin.) Lately, I've been trying some various products, and think my skin is reacting badly (i.e. breaking out more.) In addition, I have a lot of red in my skin tone. I don't think it's rosacea, but my face looks pink and uneven if I don't wear makeup. I've heard good things about La Roche-Posay products, but am confused as to which would work best for me, since my skin type seems to fall into several different categories. Could you recommend a regimen that would help give me soft, even, clear skin? I'm so tired of trying so many new things! Thank you!

891 Pregnancy-Induced Acne
Hi Megan, My name is Amber. I'm a 30 year old Black woman and I just had a baby 2 weeks ago and I've had bad acne (bad for me, though not really bad in the public eye) the entire time, so much so that last week (postpartum) I saw my doctor because I was breaking out across my chest, shoulders, and upper back with pimple-like bumps. She gave me Benzoyl Peroxide 5% and Augmentin 875mg because she felt like the follicles were infected. I've been taking the antibiotics and using the Benzoyl Peroxide on my affected areas, including my face because I was breaking out there also, though not as bad. I've noticed a significant improvement in my skin, to my relief. My mother has been treating her dark spots with products from the La Roche-Posay line and I have to say that I am seriously impressed! Because I also use the wash (Benzoyl Peroxide) in the am, I needed a moisturizing sunscreen to use for the day, so I started using her Anthelios SX. Ok, so I gave you a little background.... Here is the question. Tonight I am buying Ceralip lip repair cream, Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel, Effaclar Toner Astringent Lotion, Anthelios SX, and Mela-D, all from the La Roche-Posay line. Now, I am still using the Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, should I continue using that, even though it is helping my skin, or should I switch and start using the Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel? I am buying it so that when I'm not using the Benzoyl Peroxide anymore, I can start using that. The Anthelios SX is absolutely awesome, so I can imagine what the other products are like and can't wait to try them, however if you think that I would see better results from just starting on the Effaclar, please let me know and I will stop the Benzoyl Peroxide. My other question is what order do I use all of the products in? Do I use the Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel first, then dry my face and use the Toner Astringent Lotion, then dry my face and use the Anthelios SX? When do I use the Mela-D and how often? Can I use Anthelios SX at night or is there something else I should be using at night? What can I use for my chest and shoulders and upper back? Is there some kind of acne wash for the body that I can use? Something from the same line, perhaps? Is there a body moisturizer, too? And can I use Mela-D on the dark spots on my chest and arms and back where the little pimples left dark spots? I know this is a lot of questions, but I REALLY appreciate your answering my questions! Thanks, Amber S
892 Perioral Dermatitis
Hi Meagan, I'm a 22 year old female and have been suffering on and off with perioral dermatitis for the past 3 years. I suffered with it for over a year, first only on my chin, before it was diagnosed. I had tried acne treatments such as Stievamycin (which I had already been on for years and didn't work for anything, including my very mild acne), Clyndamycin, BP (which I later became severely allergic to), salicylic acid, etc. At the point when I was diagnosed, it had spread and was quite severe. From there, I calmed it down to a more manageable state using pure tea tree oil and was then prescribed tetracycline to give it a final kick to get rid of it (or so I thought). Almost exactly a year later, it returned. I tried the same treatment... tea tree oil and tetracycline, but this time, the tetracycline didn't work and caused me a lot of suffering as well, as it didn't agree with my stomach. My doctor referred me to a dermatologist and while I was waiting to get in, I kept it controlled with tea tree oil (which my doctor approved of). As long as I kept up the tea tree oil 3x daily, it was alright and actually completely cleared up a couple of times, but would return as soon as I tried to ween off of the tea tree oil. It would only really flare up if I got lazy about applying it or would feed it by trying to apply makeup or heavy moisturizer to the area. Recently, I got a little carried away in frustration and impatience, applied way too much of the tea tree oil for about a week, and it was quite red, irritated and dry. Then when I finally saw the dermatologist, she believed I was having contact dermatitis from the tea tree oil (when my skin was really just irritated from way too much of it over the past week and had never been like that before). She prescribed me Protopic 0.1% 2x daily for 3 weeks, and then a follow-up, and she plans on treating it (as well as my acne) at that point with Stievamycin (which I have used extensively and does not work). I applied the Protopic 3 times but it only fed the perioral dermatitis and it got a lot worse really fast. I stopped using it and switched back to my tea tree oil, and that cleared it up again right away (and the dryness and redness have already greatly improved since I've been using a lot less of it again). I have a follow up in 2 and a half weeks and I know she's going to be disappointed that I didn't keep the Protopic up, but I've lived with this condition for so long that I know what doesn't work for me, and Protopic was already making it worse. Perioral dermatitis needs to breathe, and this stuff was like Vaseline and feeding it. Also, the FDA warnings about it really freaked me out. What I really want is something to aid in treatment of the perioral dermatitis (to finally get rid of it for good) alongside the tea tree oil, as I can get it clear but only as long as I keep using the tea tree oil. I just need something to give it that final kick in the butt once it's clear, so that it doesn't return again right away. Do you have any suggestions? I've heard some people have success by switching toothpastes. Could this work, or is there anything else? I've already swore to myself that I'd completely stop applying any moisturizer or makeup to the area, which I hope will help as well. If you have any suggestions at all, it'd be greatly appreciated! I'm desperate! I should also add that my skin is extremely sensitive and I have a lot of allergies including BP, fragrance and chemical sunscreens. I also have very mild acne with some problematic pores and the occasional small hormonal breakout, which has improved somewhat with the use of birth control pills. Thank you soooo much in advance, for absolutely anything you can possibly tell me!
