556 What Glytone Products To Use?
I am a 34 year old white woman with moderate acne mostly on cheeks, chin and neck, some acne scarring and beginning wrinkles around eyes and on forehead. I don't have oily skin. I would say basically normal/sensitive with occasional dry patches around mouth and eyes. I also have slight hyperpigmentation-redness on upper lip. I currently use cleanser for acne prone skin that seems to dry my skin out. I need a product that can get rid of acne without making me look older! I think the lines around my eyes are partially because of all the acne meds I use. Today I had a facial and the esthetician (who's about my age) said her dermatologist said to use Glytone cleanser and it cleared her acne up completely. She didn't say exactly which one so can you please send me a list of Glytone products that I should use for my skin type? Thank you so much! Jennifer
557 Extreme Eye Sensitivity
Hi Meagan, I've developed severe eye allergies recently and am having trouble finding skin care for my skin that doesn't burn my eyes and turn them red. I have dry, flaky and oily skin (though the oil is slowing down now that I'm getting a bit older, I'm 37) along with some redness. I get clogging on the sides of my nose and am concerned about fine lines right above my lip and around my eyes. But everything I've tried seems to irritate my eyes (especially face cream with SPF and most eye creams I've tried). I've had some good luck with Egyptian Magic and a La Mer sample, both did not irritate my eyes, worked well on my skin, but did cause white heads on the sides of my nose. Any advice for a skin care line that will help balance my skin, help prevent premature aging (and flakes, oil and redness) that won't burn my eyes? It seems like a tall order. Thanks a million, Andra Ruscoe, Marietta, Georgia.
558 MD Forte Vs. Kinerase
Hello Dr. Craig, I am a 31 year old female with combination skin that tends to get more oily in the T zone. I suffer from hormonal breakouts around my chin area with some isolated breakouts underneath my eyes and/or cheeks. I also have noticed wrinkles and lines forming around my eye area (slightly). I also currently go for facials every 6-8 weeks and am very rigid about my skin care regime. I have done a lot of research on your website and I have come up with two products that I think may help my skin 1. MD Forte and 2. Kinerase. Seeing as you are the expert and I think very highly of your website I was wondering if you could offer my some advice on which product would be better for me. Thank you so much!! Debbie from New Jersey
559 Help For Dry Skin And Fine Lines
Hi! I am 28 and concerned about the fine lines around my eyes which seem to be getting rapidly worse. I have always had dry skin, but I also have large, easily clogged pores. Can you suggest a day (sunscreen) and night skin care regimen for me that will moisturize my skin, minimize my pores, and minimize/prevent lines and wrinkles around my eyes and the rest of my face? I've been looking at La Roche-Posay, but I don't know if that's the best line for my needs. Budget is also a factor for me. Thanks so much!
560 Holistic Method Vs More Aggressive Method
Megan, Thank you for your explanation on Holistic method--makes sense. Here's my Q--you mentioned I should go to a more aggressive method now and back off after the acne gets better in time(not in those exact words). If I do that--do I stand the chance of repeating what I'm experiencing now with the break outs? Would I just be putting it off till later--just to experience the same frustration later(when I go to a less aggressive method)? Or, does it fix the problem altogether and then keep everything under control? When you speak of premature ageing does this also mean that the more aggressive products you would recommend will do the same thing--and what kind of premature aging are we talking about?? I have your previous email on different products that would be more aggressive--are these the ones you would still recommend if I decided to go more aggressive(Obagi Clenziderm MD. acne Ther. System & PCA skin Teen Acne System)? And if I decided to stay with the Holistic method should I stay with the ones I'm using now(Purifying cleanser, conditioning sol, Beyond Hydration + a spot treatment you could recommend. Again, I can't thank you enough for ALL the help you've given me. I sure hope I haven't been a bother to you.
561 Dermalogica Products
Dear Meagan, (1) I have super-sensitive, intolerant skin. I have been using the La Roche-Posay Toleraine products and I have been pleased with them. However, I cannot use chemicals on my face and I need a sunscreen. I've read all the reviews about Super Sensitive FaceBlock SPF 30 by Dermalogica (1.7 fl oz.) and I think that might be a good choice for me. What is your opinion? (2) I read about the Sensitive Skin pack by Dermalogica because I would like to switch to that line of products as my Toleriane items become used up. The Toleriane products do not seem to address dry, aging, wrinkling skin. My age is 59. Perhaps I am not understanding the Toleriane line properly. However, I wouldn't be able to use all of the products in the Dermalogica S.S. pack as some contain ingredients sound too harsh for me. Would you kindly put together a list of sensitive skin care products in the Dermalogica line and send it to me? I am particularly confused about which moisturizer to choose. (3) If your opinion is that I should purchase the Dermalogica Super Sensitive Face Block and stick with Toleriane, which of those products would address my concerns? Thank you so much and best regards, Emily
562 Acne, Melasma
Help! I'm 37 years old with shizophrenic skin: oily T-zone, monthly breakouts, sun damage/melasma on my cheeks, upper lip, and forehead, and now dryness and fine lines on my cheeks and around my eyes. I used Proactiv for years to control my acne, but stopped this year because my skin seemed drier and because I recently developed the discoloration. I have been researching products like mad, but there are so many - where to begin? I like what I read about MaMa lotion, Skinceuticals and the Jan Marini Bioclear line. Can you recommend a simple regimen to start, with products to add as I can afford them? Thanks! Lisa

564 Anti Aging La Roche Posay
Hi, I am confused about which products to use as there are so many. I have read good reviews about La Roche Posay and Neutregena. They are also reasonable priced. I am 34 with combination skin. I have some fine wrinkles around eye, forehead and lip area. What products do you recommend for daily skin care and anti aging. I also have sun damaged skin on the forehead and upper lip area. Do you recommend La roche Posay Mela-D day or a stronger product. As for the eyes I can't decide between Active C or Redermic. Can you please make some suggestions. Thanks very much.
565 Skin Care
I am 56 years old and for the first time in my life have dry skin. I have used lots of different products, the best, so far being, First Pressed Olive OIl Cream and Serum from HSN. I love the serum - it absorbs into the skin, never, ever feeling stiff or greasy, but normally is not moisturizing enough to use alone. I use a tiny bit of the cream along with it - feels great in the dead of winter, but can be too much at times, especially if I use it around the eye area - doesn't soak in well and feels greasy. I have used products, off the store shelf such as Olay, etc. and find many of them to feel like the skin is coated and later in the day the stuff travels to the eye area and stings - I end up washing it off. I am looking for an all around, good moisturizer that sinks into the skin and makes the skin feel like skin - no greasy or sticky feeling. I am not concerned so much about wrinkles, but if it works for that, it would be just an added bonus. I don't want extra ingredients that would cause the skin to feel like I am wearing a greasy, plastic layer on my face - I would rather have my skin feel like skin than to try and correct all the problems of aging. I would probably also like to find a corresponding eye cream - again, one that feels good, absorbs well, and has less irritating effects. My husband is getting ready to place an order soon - he orders his shampoo from you - so I was wondering how your face care products work. When he places his order is there any way I might get some samples you could recommend? Waiting to hear from you. Thank You.
566 Aging Skin With Acne
I am 55, when I was in my early 20s I was prescribed accutane, in addition to other topical acne solutions and oral antibiotics. I never really like benzoyl peroxide (cause too much irration), but also used retin a. I also have some sun damage from tanning in my 20s and 30s. I do not have the large cystic acne like I had in my younger years, but have small little bumps under the skin. I have a few blackheads and a lot of whiteheads on each side of my nose. Are the whiteheads from using too rich of moisturizer do you think? How do I cope with acne and aging skin (some wrinkles and loss of elasticity). I would like to try a retinol product such as biomedic. I currently use Perrione skin care products, but still having problems with tiny bumps under the skin, a few blackheads and whiteheads. Any help would be appreciated.
567 Choosing A Product Line
Hi. I am 39 year old female with a few acne scars and uneven toned skin. I am overwhelmed with all the products out there and do not know where to start. I have been asking around and some are saying that the drugstore brands like Aveeno, Oil of Olay, etc works the same as the department store name brands . Then there are others who tells me that you get what you pay for basically in skin care. Name brands have better ingredients, higher potency and quality. Now my choice is between Dermalogica, PCA skincare , Obagi OR....just using the drugstore brands like Aveeno or Nutrigena. Dermalogica is known not to be aggressive vs Obagi or PCA. For the long run, is non-aggressive better or fast acting results better??? I have no clue where to start. Please help. If drugstore brands works as well, then I would not mind using them. Also, do I use the moisturizer with age /wrinkle defying ingredients in it or just use the plain moisturizer with SPF which has antioxidants in it like Clinque Superdefense?? I am confused, clueless and lost. I just want a product that is reasonable in price and that works. Thank you for your kind help.
568 Scalp/ Forehead
Hello, I have three questions, If you can only answer one, I understand. First, I'm 29 year old male *male pattern balding* For the past few months I've been experiencing extreme dry/itchy/redness scalp. Through out the years I've dealt with dandruff, etc. This was really dry/dead skin. on front/top. Plus, I have some redness marks that almost look like birthmarks, but they aren't. I mean they are in the same spots. It's almost like there is some type of fungus or something on scalp. I've used everything you can imagine but the redness is still there.. Not the extreme dryness, but can get flaky. just curious? Second, On my forehead I have noticed in the past year, a V shaped dent formed below my old hairline. IF I look in the mirror sometimes I can follow two lines down my head to the V shape, then sometimes I think it's my receding hairline *Peach fuzz* rather then lines, however the V dent is real. I can push my scalp back and it disappears? I don't think it's just old age wrinkles because I'm only 29. Is this something that is common, can it be fixed short of surgery/botox, etc? Last, is in regards to facial hair. Some places I get these very thick facial hairs, unlike other hairs when you pluck them it hurts and they are very fine root, these thick hairs are very long. Meaning, whatever is exposed, when I pull it out it's usually 6 times as long below the skin. Also, it falls out of face with no pain. It appears to be wax coated, and when I rub the hair in my fingers it shows that it's 5-10 hairs all grown together in the Wax type coating.. through the one follicle on face? Any way to stop this? It's not all the time, all over my face.. but every once in a while, I can pluck 5 or so hairs. Most are to the left and right of my chin. Again, I know I asked a lot. I'd love to learn more, and understand your busy schedule. Thanks, Ricky
569 Help! Multiple Issues
I am 43 years old and have suffered with acne my whole life. I have tried every product under the sun! Right now, I am on minocycline and differin for my acne. I use cetaphil face wash. I have clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, etc. My skin tends to be VERY oily and I have huge pores that seem to be always filled with white stuff. I used to get big bumps under my skin that hurt like the dickens, but since I have been on minocycline and differin AND B6, I have not had any of those. I also have melasma which is most prominent around the outside edges of my face (forehead, hollows of my cheeks to the hairline, edges of my jawline and chin). I also suffer from hyperpigmentation whenever I get a pimple or any other kind of break in my skin, like a scratch. I have LOTS of sun damage, too. I spend a lot of time at the pool as I am an instructor. I tend to get VERY brown! I wear 70 SPF sunscreen, but only keeps me from burning, not from tanning. I have a prescription for Tri-luna for the melasma, but I am reluctant to use it as I still spend a lot of time in the sun. Obviously, I also have a few wrinkles, but nothing too terrible yet. I just would LOVE to clear my face of the pimples and do something for the melasma. Is there anything out there that can help me?
570 Glycolic Acid
Hi Megan, You know I have been using the Peter Thomas Roth BHA/AHA acne clearing gel and PTR spot treatment to clear my adult acne. For the past 2 weeks, I have been consistently using it every morning. In addition, I have also been consistently using the PTR Un-Wrinkle Peel pads every night to treat my mild acne as well as rough skin that has developed (which I wonder why). My question is, at my age of 24, is using too many products with glycolic acid going to kill my skin in the long run? If so, what do you recommend I use to stop breaking out and get rid of roughness? I have been using these PTR products for about 2 months now and still see flare ups here and there and rough skin is just now calming down a bit. In addition, I have been using a retinol treatment from Philosophy every night and a moisturizer also from Philosophy every morning, that contains 2% salicylic acid. I am also having a hard time getting rid of the acne scarring (which I believe in time will fade). But for now, my main skin concern is skin roughness and stopping acne. I am hispanic, dark hair, drak eyes, fair/medium skin (tanned now due to Summer). Also, I should add that this problem started about this January - before this I never had any skin problems (always clear!) Please help. Thank you!
