| | For the past 6 months I have developed a rather severe case of Sebhorrheic Dermatitis on my nasolobial folds, nose, and upper lip. The flaking that I got was usually visible and would proliferate and appear as flakes on the skin would. Since I started treatment with a fluticasone propionate cream, constant showering, and a anti-fungal cream, the redness and visible flaking has gone down substantially. The flakes have not returned in the same manner they used to, now they appear as small flakes even in the affected area that are only visible after I shower or swim. Within an hour they dry up and appear as part of my skin, not flakey, and appear slightly darker than my normal skin. If I try I can remove these flakes by tweezer however I have not done so to avoid further irratation. Do you think these flakes will remain, as they have for about a month and a half now, or will they fall off as part of normal skin proliferation? Should I try to scrub these off or let nature take its course? |

| | I have red smallish bumps that developed around my nose and mouth. They are also clustered under my eyes. My primary physician diagnosed eczema although they aren't that itchy. A dermatologist thought it was seborrheic dermatitis. Occasionally, it will fade and it wil look like dry skin (although it's slightly pink in color). I've tried hyrdorcortisone creams and it doesn't work that well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! By the way, it began after I stopped breastfeeding and reintroduced dairy into my diet (my son has a food allergy). Could that be the cause of it? |

| | Dear Dr. Craig,
I am 36 old male and since the last November I'm suffering from the skin problems which involves T zone & cheeks redness. It is associated with flaking as well. My skin is very sensitive and even gentle touch is causing skin to peel and the area to flush. The problem is that I'm living in the Middle East and none of the doctors I've visited so far was able to tell me what it is (one said it is Rosacea and asked me to have 2 months course of antibiotics, the second said its some kind of Dermatitis, the third one said its Seborrheic Dermatitis, etc.). They all prescribed some kind of steroid crèmes but after 2 days the condition re-occurred. I’ve been trying with the cosmetics and lotions available over here but without visible improvement. My skin is very dry and sometimes very itchy. When close to the open fire (e.g. doing barbecue) I get red bumps on my face as well. Can you please try to resolve my problem and to advice on some products which can help me. Can it be some kind of fungal condition, Rosacea or Seborrheic Dermatitis?

| | I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis when I was 13 years old. I am now 22 and have a very bad outbreak. I'm itching in my sleep and waking up to bloody scabs. My dermatologist moved away two years after I was diagnosed. Neither the doctors office or pharmacy want to dig out my records from storage. I was given a prescription that I have been searching for for years now. It was an alcohol based liquid solution that I applied to my scalp once a day as needed. It was a white oval squeeze bottle with a purple label. I have no health insurance, but work in a doctors office. I am hoping to find the main ingredient and get something that I can afford.

I have Seborrheic Dermatitis. After a sexual encounter where I gave oral sex to a woman. My upper lip was very red and I continue to have redness on the mustache area. My dermatologist said it was a yeast overgrowth and that is just my skin. Is there anything I can try? |
