601 Sun Tanning
Hi, My question is regarding dangers of sun tanning. Before I start I'd like to say that I have a Mediterranean/Middle eastern skin. I used to live in Iran until I was 15 (so had a lot of exposure to sun light) but now live in UK. My skin has lost a lot of colour since I moved to uk, and I would like to get the previous shade back. I don't like self tanning lotions because they are messy, sticky and if I forget to put it on for a day my skin looks streaky the next day. So I'd really like to use sun tanning, but I have heard a lot regarding dangers of sun tanning. I was wondering if this is only true for people with fair skin? Or would I be able to get sun tanned with reduced danger if I use low SPF products? Many thanks.
602 Black Spots On Penis?
Dear Doc, I've noticed some small barely visible black dots near the tip/opening of my penis. I make sure to keep clean down there, but I'm not sure what they are. When I'm in the shower, and I stretch the skin, they have a more bubble like appearance, but none of them are turning red. Do I need to go in for a visit, or are they just clogged pores? Thanks for your help.
603 Obagi Tretinoin Vs. AHAs
Hello, I have been suffering from acne for over 12 years, and I am now 24. I have finally found a skincare regimen which has helped dramatically, that is NeoStrata' s AHA range, and I am now using a 20% AHA cream every evening. However, while the acne is almost entirely gone (there is still a few stubborn blackheads and whiteheads left, but no more pimples), it has left hyperpigmentation marks and very shallow scars. I know that one of the biggest advantages of Obagi Tretinoin, when compared to AHA products is that it actually boosts collagen production and works deep in the skin at cellular level. I was therefore wondering whether I would be a good candidate for Obagi Tretinoin cream, as it could help with pigmentation and scars? Also, if I indeed would benefit from switching over from Neostrata 20%AHA to Obagi Tretinoin, should I respect a delay between the moment I finish AHAs and start over with the Tretinoin, or could I just follow on with it immediately? And also, what tretinoin concentration should I start with, as my skin is already resistant to high concentration of AHAs? Thanks in advance for your help, Sincerely, Marilyse B.

605 Accutane Side Effect
Hello Doctor I am extremely concerned about the possible effects of Accutane on my growth (height) When I was 15 I took Accutane to cure my acne for approximately a little over 6 months. I started off taking the drug at .05 mg per kg for the first month, 2/3mg per kg for the next 2 months, and subsequently took 1mg/kg for the last 3 and half months. I am now 18 and a half and have read that Accutane can cause premature epiphyseal closure in pediatric patients. I am concerned that this may have happened to me because I notice that I have not grown much at all in the last few years since I was on the drug. I am still approximately 5'7. In your opinion Doctor, is this side effect something that you have come across in your experience with patients who are still growing? In addition, I have mainly read that Accutane can have the possibility of affecting the epiphyseal plates at the end of long bones. Is there a chance that accutane can also cause premature fusion of bones other than long bones eg the cranial sutures, or is it reserved to the epiphyseal plates? I would really appreciate a reply as soon as you can Doctor thank you
606 Glycolic/Lactic Acid Peels
Hi there, I am in my early 30s and get regular lactic acid peels from my local salon. 30% Lactic. I was wondering if these types of peels are ok for you skin, long term? I love the results I get with the peels, however I am fearful that I am doing further damage to my skin. Are these peels healthy for your skin? thank you.
607 Face Tanners For Acne-prone Skin
I was wondering if there are any self-tanners for the face that you would recommend for acne-prone skin. I want to appear tan but many self tanners i have tried in the past have caused me to break out. I would appreciate any suggestions that you could give me.
608 Claudalie Purifying Mask Or PTR Sulfur Mask?
I was wondering which mask would be better and more effective for the treatment of acne and skin roughness (congested skin) - Caudalie's Purifying Mask or PTR Sulfur Mask? I have been using the PTR Sulfur mask for a while now and it does not seem to really help, just dry. I tried the Purifying mask once as a sample and loved it but don't want to invest in it if there is something out there you recommend over it. Also, is it okay to use my PTR Un-Wrinkle Peel pads every night and the PTR BHA/AHA clearing gel every morning, or is this too much for my skin in the long run? Please let me know. Thanks!
609 M2 And Tretinoin Cream, 0.05%
Is it safe to use M2 and Tretinoin cream 0.05% on alternate nights? I've been using Tretinoin since May 14th, but would like to add M2 to get rid of my melasma. So is it safe to use? Thanks.
610 Fix Patchy Eye Brows
Hi, I am 29 and since I was a child I have had patchy eyebrows. Half the the brow is nice and full and the other half has hair but is not as full and is light. Is there a way to make the whole brow full with hair so that it looks better? David
611 Acne Product Combinations
I recently bought two products containing salicylic acid. One is a foaming cleanser and the other is for spot treatment. Would it be alright to use the foaming cleanser to clean my face and then apply the spot treatment?
612 Glycolic Acid
Hi Megan, You know I have been using the Peter Thomas Roth BHA/AHA acne clearing gel and PTR spot treatment to clear my adult acne. For the past 2 weeks, I have been consistently using it every morning. In addition, I have also been consistently using the PTR Un-Wrinkle Peel pads every night to treat my mild acne as well as rough skin that has developed (which I wonder why). My question is, at my age of 24, is using too many products with glycolic acid going to kill my skin in the long run? If so, what do you recommend I use to stop breaking out and get rid of roughness? I have been using these PTR products for about 2 months now and still see flare ups here and there and rough skin is just now calming down a bit. In addition, I have been using a retinol treatment from Philosophy every night and a moisturizer also from Philosophy every morning, that contains 2% salicylic acid. I am also having a hard time getting rid of the acne scarring (which I believe in time will fade). But for now, my main skin concern is skin roughness and stopping acne. I am hispanic, dark hair, drak eyes, fair/medium skin (tanned now due to Summer). Also, I should add that this problem started about this January - before this I never had any skin problems (always clear!) Please help. Thank you!
613 Scar Problem
I have a lot of scars from playing sports when I was in high school. It's hard to hide it with make-up or any foundation, because of my natural tan and the scars are white. The scars are different sizes and all over my legs. Can you recommend any cream or what kind a procedure i can use to get rid of it. Thanks.
614 Skincare Regiment
I am a 30 year old male with very dry sensitive skin. I wash my face only in the morning and after workouts, to avoid my face from becoming too dry. I have large pores on my nose and occasionally have small breakouts on my forehead. I would appreciate some advice on a skin care regiment. Thank you.
615 Long Lasting Pressed Powder
I have combination/oily skin more on the oily side especially on my T-zone. I am currently using the gloMinerals pressed powder base as my foundation but it just doesn't last as long as I would like. In just a few hours it starts to look patchy and weird due to my oily skin. What pressed powder would you recommend for me to use with the same coverage as gloMinerals, but that goes better with oily skin. I also have very fair skin so I need the options of light colors that aren't orangey at all. Thanks.
616 Obagi Nu Derm
Hello, This is my 7th week of using the Obagi Nu Derm, am-(1,2,3,4,6) and pm (1,2,3,5,trentinon 0.05%) as directed by my dermatologist. My skin has been red. flaky and dried for the entire period, however, my skin complexion and tone do get improved and all my brown spot are removed. I need to have some photos taken in 2 weeks and want to look normal and great instead of flaky and red, so my dermatologist asked me to stopping using 4,5, tretinon. I have stopped for 4 days already but my skin is still very red and flaky. I have dry skin but complexion in the T zone. Before Obagi, I used La Roche's Hydraphase Riche and it worked great. 1) Can I use La Roche's Hydraphase with the Obagi (1,2,3,6) as the moisturizer? 2) Can I stop using the whole line and resume 2 weeks later? If yes, can I use the La Roche products durig this time? 3) My dermatologist said that it's a 18 weeks' program, I just finished the first cycle (6 weeks) and got the results I want, can I stop here and go on the maintainence program? Any side effects if I stop here? What products do you recommend for the maintainence program? 5) I thought the peeling and flaking are to remove the old skin cells and expect that there will be less peeling and flaking with time. But it's not the case for me. Does it mean that the products are just a bit too aggressive for me but I just still have old skin cells that need to be removed?
