Dermatologist Review of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare
anonymous Verified Purchaser Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare is a straightforward skin care line developed by New York dermatologist Dennis Gross, MD. The mission of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare is to offer the most effective skin care products available without prescription. Dr. Gross’s idea is to offer intelligently formulated products with highest quality ingredients and provide them with the caring concern of the dermatologist’s office.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare is a relative newcomer to the skin care arena. Its breakthrough product, the Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel, put Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare on the map for innovation and quality. The Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel is a two-step at-home peel that is applied via pads. The peel delivers alpha and beta hydroxyl acids, moisturizers, green tea extract and antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. The intent of the Alpha Beta Peel is to provide more benefits than glycolic products with less irritation.
Dr. Gross brings experience as a dermatologic laboratory researcher and board certified practicing dermatologist to bear on his product line. Each product is formulated by Dr. Gross with the intention of improving on existing product types in the market and developing products to serve new skin care niches. Dr. Dennis Gross uses cutting edge technology and medical/pharmaceutical grade ingredients to develop synergistic formulations that enhance the properties of each ingredient on the skin and, as products, work synergistically in daily skin care regimens.
Dr. Dennis Gross product line encompasses peels, cleanser/toners, moisturizers and sunscreens for both face and body. There are several products for each area and indication and some are sub-specialized. In particular, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare offers a tinted All-in-One Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in six different shades to match virtually any skin color. This product provides good skin protection and helps even skin tone with natural-looking transparent color. It is lightweight and absorbs quickly. Vitamin C plays a roll in several of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare products including the innovative Vitamin C SPF 30 pads. The pads provide soothing non-sticky broad-spectrum sun protection in a lightweight formula. The sunscreen pads are convenient to carry and use.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has very distinctive orange white and silver packaging. The branding is bold and calls out the medical quality of the products. Package quality is good overall with a noted avoidance of jars other than for pads. The products themselves are very gentle and cosmetically elegant generally speaking. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare seems to care very much about formulation elegance. Indirect evidence of this concern can be seen in the selection of SPF levels for the various components of the line. High SPF values tend to decrease cosmetic elegance and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare appears to have tried to strike a delicate balance between SPF and elegance. It seems to me that Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has attempted to analyze the actual real life functional niche of each product and provide an appropriate level of sun protection for each niche/situation without providing unnecessary protection that might decrease formulation elegance. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare products are fragrance free. This would seem to promote a more universal appeal and is certainly consistent with the thrust of the line’s branding.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has rapidly developed a devoted following. I personally know of more than one skin care professional with access to many product lines that has tried Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare products and chosen them as their personal product line due to the cosmetic elegance, ease of use and aesthetic results. It will be interesting to see how the brand develops and its following grows in coming years. As a young and successful company, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare appears to have a bright future with its current product line and, if history is any guide, we can likely expect more innovative products from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare as the company matures.
