Reviews of Obagi CLENZIderm M.D. Starter Set - Normal to Oily

Having gone through a series of skin treatment suites that took an overly aggressive stance of treating acne to not effective enough, this product has done a much better job than the rest.

What I liked about "Obagi Clenziderm M.D. Starter Set - Normal to Oily" was that this is actually cheaper to buy than the individual items at the very same size that the stuff comes in. The thing I really like about this product is it labels each step on the bottle which was a major problem for me to follow, since having terrible memory.

Now the problems that had come with using the product is that you end up emptying out the very last most expensive bottle before any of the other three. You may even end up with the first bottle from the two boxes ago, the second bottle from the previous box, and on your third third bottle. Now, this problem may not be exclusive to this suite alone but... if you do this before you sleep, you need to put a white towel on your pillow. It will bleach your colored pillow casing since you'll be leaving the product from the last bottle on.

I have battled acne for years and tried almost every product or antibiotic known to dermatologists, and have been accutane twice. I got this product because by looking at the reviews, I had a lot of hope as I was considering going on accutane a third time. After the first two weeks my skin cleared up a lot and I did not break out as much during my period as I normally do. I use the product every night in addition to my oral antibiotics. Sadly, after about a month of using the product, I am breaking out incredibly worse. My breakouts have dramatically increased from even the what it was before I was using the product. I will finish out the product and start to use it twice a day but I can only hope it will get better in the next weeks or so that I have left of the starter kit.

good for ache but dry the skin too much. I will purchase the product again and might become my daily acne regimen.

I NEVER write reviews but I had to on this one. I am 51 and am going through a rough divorce. My skin has been a wreck --- breakouts on my chin and forehead --- cystic, hard, painful bumps. I started using Clenziderm and I have NO breakouts, my skin looks and feel terrific and a long-time male friend told me that my divorce must be good for me as I look 15 years younger! My 22 year old and 15 year old daughters are ready to give it a try. I only use the #3 product at night and have had no peeling problems. I use a good moisturizer afterward. The #3 product can sting but it is worth it.

This is a 3-step acne control product. It is easy to use and extremely effective.

The cleanser leaves your face feeling cool and clean. The toner is really rfreshing it also works well.

This is a very good product-wasn't exactly what I meant to order-but really like it! For a starter kit it lasts quite a while. Thank you!

This product helps me to reduce my acne and minimize my pore. I have concerns with my acnes, they are not all over my face, but once it comes out, it will not go away for a long time. After using this product, my acnes are under control and don't show up that often.

This product works great. You just put on twice a day. I love everything about this product except that if you over use step 3, your face will tend to get dry and flaky.

Obagi's Clenziderm worked better than expected. I was skeptical but had used so many other products that I felt I may as well give it a chance. The first two weeks things cleared up quickly and then I hit a plateau. The main notice is that I am not getting new acne bumps so for that reason I will keep on the Obagi system.

i was reluctant at first to try this product but because i tried so many products out there, i decided to purchase this and see how it goes...it was a great buy! my face became clearer, with far more fewer breakouts! will definitely stay with obagi from now on!

I never really had too many problems with acne as a teen but as an adult I have had occasional breakouts. My acne consisted of some blackheads but primarily pimples that eventually would become whiteheads as well as cystic like pimples (although those were not frequent). I don't want to paint a picture as if I had severe acne but I had enough to always envy others with seemingly clear skin and 'invisible' pores. I can't tell you how many products I've tried from Dermalogica to Noxema to Proactive. Some didn't work at all and some worked for a short amount of time. None of them cleared my skin. Then I tried Clenziderm. It took a few weeks to really clear my skin but I began to see improvements. My skin began to have less breakouts (and I haven't had any moderate ones since using this product). My skin also became brighter and the pores began to shrink in some areas. The acne that I may get from time to time doesn't stay around at all and I swear I can even sleep in my makeup without having to suffer for 2-3 days with a bad breakout afterward. It really has changed my skin. I get a lot of compliments and I am really happy with the results. I've been using Clenziderm for about a year now and it's still going strong!!! Now let me warn you, you may have a bit of drying initially. As a result, you'll have to spend the first few weeks deciding what regiment is best for you (2x a day, once a day, etc.). Find a great moisturizer and I mean it, you won't regret it!!

i just started using it a few weeks ago and started to see results almost immediately. i haven't had any bad reactions to it at all. i still have a ways to go, but its better than any other product i ever used before, especially proactive.

The product is used for acne-prone skin. I loved the kit. It was easy to follow.

Overall I really loved step 1 through 3. The thing is that i wake up with a bright red face in morning because step 3 is so strong. And i am not putting a lot on either. Just a really thin layer. Am I suppose to put it just directly on the pimple only or the whole face? This product works but im just wondering if anyone else has the reaction of the really red face, and my face also get extremely itchy. Can someone from the Obagi store please reply back? I would really appreciate it.

Love the products, my skin has never looked better. This was a brand I was introduced to by my derm, but he did not recommend this kit. Love the products, but they do not travel well. The toner leaks!!

I ordered this for my teenage son and we saw immediate results in clearing his skin of little under skin bumps.

I've pretty much tried everything to help my acne and while some products would work for awhile and others for a few months my skin would eventually stop responding to the products and I would break out again. With Obaji Clenziderm my skin is clear outside AND in, no pimples waiting to creep to the surface! I have semi oily to sometimes dry skin and with Obaji it doesn't bother either condition. When my skin gets a little too dry I just cut down the frequency of my washes. You can even add your own light moisturizer to your face routine and it won't affect the effectiveness of Obaji Clenziderm. If you want something that will actually work and treat all types of acne, small and big, try it. It's pretty magical.

Best product out there for adult female acne. I have tried everything and spent a lot of money and time at the dermatologist.

I love all Obagi products but I do have large pores and some spots---Clenziderm within 1 week made such a difference in my poresize and skin discoloration.

I know all the reviews are positive thus far but not from me. These products totally ruined my face. Ive been using them for three weeks and that's all I can take. My skin has gotten progressively worse and worse as the days go by. I cant understand what could have gone wrong but it has. Totally wrong! Im getting pimples where Ive never gotten pimples before, I have clusters of large pimples now, and just continuous breakouts. My skin was a lot better before I used these products. If you want good products go with Jan Marini.

I have used Pro-active, Clinic, you named it, i've tried it. This is the only product that works.

The one negative thing is that you can over use step 3, and it may dry out your skin. When this occurs, I just limit use to every other night and use step 3 for the dry skin.

The cleanser cleansed my face well. If you sweat a lot the clenziderm cleanser thoroughly cleanses your face of oil. Overall, this three step system really dried out my skin to the point of peeling. The third step did however dry up any existing pimples fast. This product was very expensive and had the same results as proactive, but proactive is cheaper

The best product I've ever used for my face. Your face will feel extremely clean and the tingling feel afterwards makes it feel like it's still working. I can't live without it!

This is some strong stuff! My derm. told me about this product and I've been using it for almost a year now.

It was completely transformed my skin. I used to get huge, crater like blemishes. Within a few weeks for using this product, they were gone.

I still get one from time to time, but honestly, they're gone so quickly, I hardly remember they were there.

I am 37 years old,have problem with pimpl. This product is the best for a women in my age. Love it,and it works like magic.

So, when I read about Obagi Clenziderm which uses a benzoyl peroxide gel that is 1/10,000 the size of any other benzoyl peroxide, I figured I would give it a try. I am glad I did.

Within 3 days, I noticed my skin looking clearer. After 2 months of use, I am very satisfied. I've had only 1 new pimple since using Clenziderm - it was small and gone by the next day. For me, it is the most effective regimen for treatment and prevention of my acne.

Some background info (feel free to skip to my main review below): This product was actually recommended to me by my derm. She informed me that they usually suggest this to younger patients (I'm in my late twenties) but that since I have very oily skin it might work well for me. Along with my oily skin (which people like to assure me will "keep me looking young," much to my chagrin) I also have Rosecea and I still have a lot of breakouts (my acne can be traced back to my early teens). My Rosecea reacts best when I keep things simple: sticking to non-irritating products like Eucerin and Cetaphil; however, the problem with this regime is that once I get a pimple, all hell breaks lose and it is impossible to get that area back under control. I’ve also had some luck with Benzyl Peroxide washes so I tried Proactive and I found this works okay, but it only marginally decreases my breakouts, leaves my face still feeling greasy and seems to work better for less complicated skin.

The Cleziderm cleaning system, in comparison with others, definitely seems to work on deeper breakouts and makes my skin feel very clean after using it. I find that it does a terrific job keeping cystic breakouts at bay (although right now I am also taking an oral antibiotic, so it is hard to say if the Cleziderm system is the only contributing factor) but it does tend to irritate my Rosecea quite a bit, leaving my skin very red long after I have washed. It is very drying and for about a month I only used it once a day and I always follow with a soothing moisturizer.

I have used a bunch of different brands for acne, I have to say that this is one of the best facial cleansing kits I have ever used. I noticed a differnce right away, my skin looks soooooo much better. I would recommend this product to anyone who has mild to severe acne.

Love the products. Had to use once every two days because of the drying. Would definitely purchase again. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

The product made my face feel very clean with a little bit of tingling afterwards. It was a little drying, but that helped to clear my face up

I have rosacea and very fair, sensitive skin, with a tendency to break out in the t-zone. I've tried many acne treatments over the years, and this is the only one I've ever found that actually works.Initially it was a little drying, but I just cut back on using it until I adjusted. I've now been using it for nearly year. My skin no longer breaks out at all, and I have a healthy glow.

The product consists of three steps: a wash, toner, and treatment. The wash has a cooling effect on the face as does the toner. The treatment applied at night, can be used every other day if it becomes too drying. I was using another Obagi product and was impressed by how well it helped with my melasma, unfortunately, my acne was becomming alot more noticeable with the other product too. I switched to the Obagi Clenziderm set and almost immediately I noticed that a majority of my hard, sore acne breakouts were gone and stay gone. It may be overdrying to some faces, but I have switched to using the treatment everyother night with the same results. I do recommend that you buy a good moisturizer too, as I apply it in the morning, along with a good sunscreen.

Clenziderm works well at keeping my breakouts to a minimum. It does not dry my face out too much and works better for me than Pro active did.

My daughter suffers from chronic acne and Clenziderm is helping control that, it's not harsh and doesn't dry out her face.

Love it!!! A friend refered me to it and its great.It leaves my skin super clean feeling and refreshed. I use it daily.

I have tried ever product on the market and this is the ONLY thing that has really made a difference in my skin. I have taken several oral medications for my skin and this is the only external product I have found that actually works.

Works quickly but takes about 12 weeks to see complete results. Stings a bit at first, but overall, very, very satisfied.

The products takes little time to apply. As your face clears the product can be applied less often and you only need a small amount of product.

My son is using this product. He claims that it works better than Pro-Active. However, if he stops using it I notice a bounce effect where the acne comes back very strongly.

This product is a 3 step acne care system. I really had a good experience with it. When using this product I can actually SEE the dirt from my face coming off, and when using the patent pending step 3 serum, I can see a difference in my skin the very next day.

I recommend this product to people, however do use only once every other day because it may dry your skin out.

I love this product!

This is by far the best acne treatment my daughter has tried. There was a visible difference in her acne within the first two weeks of use. She has been using the product for approx. 2 months now. Her face is not "perfectly clear" but is much improved. She has substanitally fewer blackheads now. Well worth the expense.

I love this product! I have tried everything for my acne in the last 4 years. I have been to 3 dermatologists, been on antibiotics and another oral medication, bought the zeno, tried several topical medications and nothing has worked. I have been using Obagi Clenziderm since June and it is the only product that has worked! My skin immediately looked and felt better. I have received so many compliments on my skin which I never thought would happen.

I love each of the products and my acne cleared up so fast and I haven't gotten any new blemishes since I've started using it!

I love the tingling sensation the cleanser has, it really wakes me up in the morning. It worked quickly and I could see my skin clear within two weeks.

I love this 3-step system. It was recommended to me by my sister who just started using it and I have worse facial acne than her, but with her rave reviews of the system I decided to give it a try. I have used Proactiv, and while I liked it sometimes, it really dried out my skin and left my skin very dry. With the Obagi 3-step system, after applying it at night, I woke up to skin that not only feels acne free (dries out my cystic acne spots) but moisturized (in a good way). I did notice that if I use the system in the morning then I want some moisturizer for my face immediately after. I usually try to resist the urge, but the several times I haven't been able to, I have noticed that my face didn't break out which it usually does if I use any kind of moisturizer (even the oil-free stuff). No one has told me so yet, but I have noticed that my face looks better than it has in a long time as far as acne prevention goes. I am very impressed and love the tingling feeling (that really lasts, not just while you're using the product) I get from all three of the steps.

My 20 year-old daughter has been fighting acne for the last 3 years. After trying several product lines, and taking antibiotics, I decided to try clenziderm. I have personally used Obagi products and love them. For the first time, my daughter is actually getting rid of her acne and not getting new breakouts. If you have a problem with persistent breakouts, I would definitely give this product a try!

I really do like this product, but I think there was alot of hype surrounding the product that it just didn't live up to. While it did significantly reduce my acne, it didn't totally clear it as promised. Also, it made me so itchy on my neck that I was uncomfortable for the first few days. Overall, I like this product and will continue to use it since it has worked the best out of anything else I've tried.

I have battled with cystic acne for over 10 years. Previously, accutane was the only thing that worked for me (I was considering going on it for a third time after my skin started flaring up again). After trying Dermalogica and a few other brands to no avail, I decided to try one more OTC, so I pulled out the big guns and gave Clenziderm a shot.

Now 6 weeks into the system I've seen a 75% reduction in pimples. I'm not totally clear yet but I feel like I am getting there. After a few weeks of really dry skin, I've grown accustomed to it. Use of an oil-free moisturizer helps. In addition to Clenziderm I've been taking the oral supplement AkneZyme, and oral contraceptive. The combination seems to be working for me. I don't think this system would be good for people with mild acne, but for chronic sufferers as myself, please try this!

It is simple, effective and not as complicated as many regimens. It also works well. It can be drying and it would be great if the line had a moisturizer. I use Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion with it. I love it and would recommend it.

Best cleanser I've ever used. You can feel it removing it all the dead skin after the wash. I've tried almost every cleanser for oily skin and this one does it's job! I also love the pore therapy, I can see it removing all the excess dirt that the cleanser couldn't remove. The final step, the serum gel, is a bit tingly BUT it's improved my breakouts by tenfold! Highly recommend this product.

Perhaps my skin is way more sensitive than I thought, but this product made my skin so dry that it crusted over and turned it a darker shade than my natural color. I believe this is a good product but just not for me. My skin gets shiny during the day at work, but any products that dry out skin is too much for me and I may have to find something else to control the shine throughout the day. This product did seem to help with opening pores but it caused my whiteheads to become giant pimples and left scars. But on the other hand, it also helped to fade the scars because of the constant peeling.

My dermatologist said this was unheard of so I figured I'd post this just in case other people might have this same reaction. She still urged me to use the products occasionally when I feel I need it.

Also, the Pore Therapy toner burned my face! I felt like it was on fire! And the serum gel made my skin look super shiny which is impossible to imagine since my skin was so dried out.

I have been using the Clenziderm system faithfully once per day before bed and have seen ALL of my acne (cystic included) disappear. I wish I would have tried this product prior to going through several chemical peels through the dermatologist. The only draw back is the extreme dryness of my face. I would highly reccommend finding a good mositurizer to go along with the system.

I have struggled with ance my whole life, and my Derm recommened this to me after trying Nu Derm (which just wasn't right for me). This 3 step treatment has successfully made my cystic pimples disappear, and it has made my pores look smaller.. Controls oil and unclogs pores.. Amazing. I am in love with this skin care system and the Elastiderm.. Please try this if you have acne prone skin. It's a gift from God.

Clenziderm has a wonderful smell and tingly feel. It is a little drying the first 2 weeks, but is well worth it. Controls my oil & break-outs. I use it with the new CLARISONIC™ Skin Care Brush. I have been on Accutane 3 times for Cystic Acne, but this is the best product so far.

I've spent a large portion of my time trying to find the right products to clear up my acne. I found it, this stuff really works.
