Reviews of Obagi Clenziderm M.D. Starter Set - Normal to Oily

I've tried a ProActive, some different prescription antibiotics, and had settled on a combination of over-the-counter products. Most effective was salicylic acid cleaners and benzoyl peroxide treatments. So, when I read about Obagi Clenziderm which uses a benzoyl peroxide gel that is 1/10,000 the size of any other benzoyl peroxide, I figured I would give it a try. I am glad I did.

Within 3 days, I noticed my skin looking clearer. After 2 months of use, I am very satisfied. I've had only 1 new pimple since using Clenziderm - it was small and gone by the next day. For me, it is the most effective regimen for treatment and prevention of my acne.

Some background info (feel free to skip to my main review below): This product was actually recommended to me by my derm. She informed me that they usually suggest this to younger patients (I'm in my late twenties) but that since I have very oily skin it might work well for me. Along with my oily skin (which people like to assure me will "keep me looking young," much to my chagrin) I also have Rosecea and I still have a lot of breakouts (my acne can be traced back to my early teens). My Rosecea reacts best when I keep things simple: sticking to non-irritating products like Eucerin and Cetaphil; however, the problem with this regime is that once I get a pimple, all hell breaks lose and it is impossible to get that area back under control. I’ve also had some luck with Benzyl Peroxide washes so I tried Proactive and I found this works okay, but it only marginally decreases my breakouts, leaves my face still feeling greasy and seems to work better for less complicated skin.

The Cleziderm cleaning system, in comparison with others, definitely seems to work on deeper breakouts and makes my skin feel very clean after using it. I find that it does a terrific job keeping cystic breakouts at bay (although right now I am also taking an oral antibiotic, so it is hard to say if the Cleziderm system is the only contributing factor) but it does tend to irritate my Rosecea quite a bit, leaving my skin very red long after I have washed. It is very drying and for about a month I only used it once a day and I always follow with a soothing moisturizer.

I have used a bunch of different brands for acne, I have to say that this is one of the best facial cleansing kits I have ever used. I noticed a differnce right away, my skin looks soooooo much better. I would recommend this product to anyone who has mild to severe acne.

Love the products. Had to use once every two days because of the drying. Would definitely purchase again. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

The product made my face feel very clean with a little bit of tingling afterwards. It was a little drying, but that helped to clear my face up

I have rosacea and very fair, sensitive skin, with a tendency to break out in the t-zone. I've tried many acne treatments over the years, and this is the only one I've ever found that actually works.Initially it was a little drying, but I just cut back on using it until I adjusted. I've now been using it for nearly year. My skin no longer breaks out at all, and I have a healthy glow.

The product consists of three steps: a wash, toner, and treatment. The wash has a cooling effect on the face as does the toner. The treatment applied at night, can be used every other day if it becomes too drying. I was using another Obagi product and was impressed by how well it helped with my melasma, unfortunately, my acne was becomming alot more noticeable with the other product too. I switched to the Obagi Clenziderm set and almost immediately I noticed that a majority of my hard, sore acne breakouts were gone and stay gone. It may be overdrying to some faces, but I have switched to using the treatment everyother night with the same results. I do recommend that you buy a good moisturizer too, as I apply it in the morning, along with a good sunscreen.

Clenziderm works well at keeping my breakouts to a minimum. It does not dry my face out too much and works better for me than Pro active did.

My daughter suffers from chronic acne and Clenziderm is helping control that, it's not harsh and doesn't dry out her face.
