Gentle mineral-based sunblock, but not the easiest to blend... by Joe from West Long Branch, NJ Verified Purchaser Upon using COOLA Mineral Face Lotion SPF 20 Unscented and falling in love with its smooth invisible application (a rarity for most mineral-based sunscreens), I was eager to try COOLA Mineral Body Moisturizer SPF 30. Sadly, the body formula didn't live up to the same magic as the face formula, even though at a glance they appear to be complimentary products. Both offer fragrance-free sun protection featuring titanium dioxide and zinc oxide for broad-spectrum blocking of skin-damaging UVA and UVB rays. Both formulas tout their organic and antioxidant-enriched formulas, even though the most buzz-worthy ingredients are a mere dusting at best (though credit is given for excluding any potentially irritating components). However, the body formula has a thick waxy texture that does not lend itself to blending, something that is crucial for a mineral-based sun product as to minimize or eliminate the white cast caused by the active ingredients. Adding insult to injury, despite a generous application and a deft hand at blending I found myself with a sunburnt neck after a few hours of moderate sun exposure - something that has never happened with previous sunscreens I have used under similar circumstances. If the face formula were sold in larger packaging at a better price, I would prefer to use that as my all-over sunscreen. As it stands, I will stick with CosMedix Reflect SPF 30 for body use. Perhaps COOLA will go back to the drawing board and make their Mineral Body Moisturizer SPF 30 everything it ought to be, especially at this price! Review posted 6/20/2011.
