Reviews of Solbar Shield SPF 40

This is a very effective non-chemical sun block. Pros: absorbed quickly; no smell and effective block Con: goes on thick and leaves a "chalky" residue. However, that's easily overcome by adding a little foundation.

My dermatologist encouraged me to use SSS #40 after a laser procedure for sun damage. I intended to do just that - but probably only short-term as required. I will use this product daily - and not need reminding!

This product has zinc oxide that melts into your skin and is invisible! It stays on through sweat and swimming..

I'm being smart about the sun now, my skin is protected and my dermatologist is thrilled :)

Not as hard to apply as most other Zinc and Titanium sunscreens. Becomes a little greasy after awhile but easily fixed with blotting sheets. I liked that this doesn't have any chemical sunscreens or any parabens or other preservatives like that. Also fragrance free is a plus.

I purchased this for my teenage daughter with acne. It works well and keeps her skin white and does not cause breakouts. I would purchase it again, although she does not use it every day. It is fairly waterproof.

This product works well under makeup. I have oily skin and I was worried about it making my face too oily. It did not do that. I love the product.

Love the transparent white lotion. The zinc helps me from getting burned in the upper chest(below the neck) area.

I usually burn there with regular 50 SPF lotion.

Now I don't!

it's great for my face.I don't break up,I won't get sun burned even if I stay out for long periods of time,I can wear my make-up over it.I strongly recommend this product.

My doctor gave me a recommended product list for people with my specific allergies from the American Contact Dermatitis Society, and the Solbar Sunscreen was one of a handful of sunscreens I can use. I haven’t tried it on my face, but I’ve been very happy with using it on the rest of my body whenever I go out in the sun. Though a little thick to apply, it absorbs quickly into the skin. I like the high SPF and the fact that it does not contain synthetic sunscreen agents that can irritate. I’ve been very pleased!

No problems with the product, just have to rub it in well. It is unscented and non-greasy.

Solbar is the best sunblock I've found to protect my nose. My dermatologist recommended it and the Dermstore is the only place I found it. I'm very fair and my nose always burns, but Solbar actually works to prevent burning. We just went skiing out west and I usually burn with the high altitude sun exposure and wind, but I was ok. And we even had 53 mph gusts one day! That's pretty good protection. I will definitely buy it again.
