| Hi, my name is Yoshiko. I am one of the 4 founders of JUARA Skincare. I created JUARA with my 3 business partners Metta Murdaya, Jill Sung and Tami Chuang in the Spring of 2005 in New York City. My curiosity for skin health began in my childhood with the discovery of my chemist father’s dictionary of dermatology and my Japanese mother’s passion for good skincare. Coming from a multi-cultural background myself, I am fascinated by how people in different countries take care of their skin. Wherever I travel, I spend hours in department stores and drugstores studying products and speaking to sales associates and estheticians. I was yearning to find a brand that speaks to my Asian heritage, when Metta, a native of Indonesian with whom I had been classmates at New York University, approached me about creating a skincare line based on Indonesian botanicals. The Indonesian botanical tradition and beauty rituals have opened my eyes to an approach to skincare that I find is both timeless and cutting edge. As a result, JUARA was born. With JUARA, we combine this ancient tradition with modern science to help restore and enhance the skin’s natural balance while conveying the calming experience of an ancient beauty ritual. |
