Dark Circles

Dark circles, sometimes referred to as bags under the eyes, are a common concern among women and men of all ages, caused from veins carrying blue (deoxygenated) blood beneath the surface of the skin. There are a number of issues that lead to the formation of dark circles and, luckily, as many ways to address them.

Genetic dispositions to dark circles include having pale or thin skin, especially around the eye, as well as having sunken-in eyes that cause shadowing. Allergies and fatigue can cause the skin to pale, making dark circles more noticeable. A lack of vitamin K or iron in the diet may also be to blame, leading to discoloration.

Treatments range from camouflage to supplements, depending on the cause and severity of the dark circles.
