How to Live the Life That You Love: A Radical Skincare Recipe

BY Liz Edlich · January 8, 2016

As with anything in life, if you want results different from what you are getting, you need to get “radical” in your approach. We believe that just as there is a formula for creating the strongest skin care that can be used for sensitive skin, there is also a formula for creating a life you love. Here is ours.

How to Live a Life You Love - DermStore

1. Set an ambitious goal in the present tense.

Goal-setting is one of the most powerful ingredients in our formula. You must know where you are and where you want to go. You must have a goal or destination in mind in order to set the GPS coordinates for your life.

The key to goal-setting is to make sure that it is in the present tense. That means that when you write your goal by hand (yes, by hand), make it seem as if you are already achieving it. You need to be specific with dates and amounts in the goal that you write down, and it should be big enough to scare and excite you at the same time. It has to be something that you get emotionally involved with. Write down your goal and put it in your wallet or on your screensaver where you can see and read it often.

2. Create your vision board.

The next secret to achieving your radical dreams is to have a clear vision of what that looks like. Visualization is one of the most powerful tools to get what you want in life. Basketball players use it. CEOs use it. And you can use this powerful tool as well. Create a board that contains pictures, words and images of what your heart desires. Your mind works in pictures. When you think of a dog or a cat, your mind creates a picture or image of a dog or cat and does not see the letters d-o-g or c-a-t. It uses an image. Keep this radical collage on your wall. Look at it often and know what the pictures represent in your desired life.

3. Surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams.

Your belief is a critical factor for creating a radical life that you love. Many of us hold beliefs that we are not even aware we have. They were handed down to you over the years and generations as facts. It is critical to have beliefs that support what you want. If you are in your 40s with two kids and divorced and want to create another relationship, believing that “men today all go for the younger girls” won’t serve you well. So it is important to write down and examine your beliefs, and if they do not support your goal, rewrite them and do not allow them to take up space in your mind.

As important as belief is to the foundation that you build your life on, so are the friends you keep. It is said that the five people you most surround yourself with are a great indication and reflection of who you are. Who are they? Are they part of your dream team? Do they see your greatness and support your goals and vision? Or are they negative complainers who always voice the reasons why something will not work? Create your radical dream team to surround you with positive energy and support you on your life’s journey.

4. Count your blessings.

Science has proven that gratitude is one of the most important characteristics in creating happiness. Each day write down 10 things for which you are grateful. Studies show that this simple act has lifted many from depression and has created an overall sense of well-being.

5. Give back.

It is in giving that we receive. It is simply a law of the universe. When you give, you feel great. When you feel great, you attract great. If you are in a place of feeling uninspired, take a moment to go out of your way and give to another. Not only will your energy shift, but the act of giving also attracts abundance.

6. Mind your thoughts.

Thoughts create your world. Take them very seriously and be careful what you are thinking. Thoughts are energy. They carry with them a powerful vibration. You can even measure their vibration in the body with biofeedback. You can see how your body responds to negative words and thoughts versus positive. If you have a negative talk track, cancel and erase it with a talk track that supports you. This is an essential step to keeping your thoughts focused on creating what you want instead of what doesn’t serve you.

7. Say the “radical yes.”

Finally, say the “radical yes” to life and opportunities where you may have otherwise said no. Too many times in life we live in our comfort zones and never step out. We say, “No, I can’t.” The kids, my husband, my job, my this or my that won’t allow me to say yes. Yes opens the door to a multitude of opportunities and relationships for you to enjoy.

Stretch and allow yourself to experience new things. Let this year be a “radical” year and create a life that you truly love and deserve. It’s waiting for you. All you have to do now is say “YES.”
