Q Since I was 14 (now 27), I've been getting ingrown hairs that keep coming back. I have many scars from this and I have been to a dermatologist who took one look at me and said I have sceriasis (sorry of the spelling) when it is clear that I do not and dismissed me. It is as if my skin grows over too quickly for the hair to puncture through my skin, causing ingrown hairs. I have them all over my body. I have been on acutain and other things for my facial acne which has mostly gone away on its own and this condition has not; I'm not sure of the diagnosis for it. Can you help me? I also exfoliate every night which helps, but I still have to pick at them and get the hair out, which usually causes scaring. I have them mostly on my legs, arms, arm pits. I always have to wear long sleeves and pants to hid the scars which look like bug bites all over my legs and arms. It gets better if I don't shave for a long time, but that is also embarrassing. I'm not sure what to do or what to do. Please help.
A

Unfortunately some people are simply more prone to ingrown hairs which is usually caused by the texture of the hair. If you have wavy and/or curly hair you are more likely to get ingrown hairs. Unfortunately medical diagnosis' cannot be made via the Internet like this. I would recommend you treat the ingrown hairs with Bliss Ingrown Hair Eliminating Peeling Pads. You may also want to consider permanent hair removal methods such as electrolysis or laser hair removal, which would really be your best option. Please contact me with further questions.
