Discoloration after Waxing

Q Hi, A little over a week ago, I waxed this spot on my stomach. I saw that not all the hairs came out, so I put another layer of wax on and waxed it again. It was red as usual afterwards, and also the next morning, which is normal usually after I do it. I thought it would fade after a couple of days. THE SKIN FELT FINE. It didn't feel burnt, or raw, or anything. I haven't been out in the sun. I'm not on any medications. However, 5 days later, the red spot had turned brownish and it was looking much like a scar (yet the skin didn't appear or feel damaged before). I started putting cocoa butter lotion on it, it didn't get better, so then I started applying Fred Summit's Skin Whitening cream -- over a week later, it's still here. Here are some pictures http://i29.tinypic.com/25i2jj4.jpg http://i30.tinypic.com/2qn1it2.jpg What is this discoloration? Will it go away or is it a scar? Should I continue using cocoa butter and whitening cream? I was thinking about having laser hair removal done there this month, and going to the beach, is that now a bad idea? How do I get rid of this?
A

Although it may have not felt burnt or damaged, it sounds like it probably was. This is fairly normal with waxing over an area more then once or if the wax is too hot for the skin. I would give the skin awhile longer to heal before concluding that it is a scar. You may consider a treatment product like La Roche-Posay Cicaplast. I can't say for sure that it will or will not go away, only time will tell. In the meantime continue with the cocoa butter. At this point, and as long as the lesion is present I would avoid sun exposure as well as laser hair removal. Meagan, Esthetician
