- Q Hello, I am a loyal customer who has been trying to fix a skin issue for 10 years now, with no avail. I was using Accutane for 6 months when I was 19/20 years old (10 years ago) for cystic acne that developed later than usual, and as I was finishing the treatment, I began to see a small red rash develop on each side of my nostrils. This “patchy rash” eventually popped up on both sides of my chin. Since then, I have taken antibiotic prescriptions and eczema ointments (I even tried antifungal creams) and saw zero improvement. I even tried zero therapy for 6-8 months (most recently), and that did not help. As the years progressed, the rash became less red and less noticeable, unless I’m in a shadowy/harsh light. Dermatologists have said I have perioral dermatitis, some say it’s eczema. No treatment has been able to work. What slightly helped (still had a rash texture) was getting hydrafacials, but that’s too expensive for me to maintain. I currently use AHA/BHA facial cleanser and alternate with DHC oil cleanser. Then I use COS RX AHA/BHA toner and Skinmedics HA5. This combo has not not aggravated my skin, but I am looking to see if I need more hydration, as the rash patches also flake. The rash has occasionally been itchy, otherwise it’s just there. Please help!

Thank you for reaching out to us. In looking at the products that you are currently using I would cut back on your AHA`s they could be a little bit too drying for you. Especially your toner, I would recommend implementing COSRX their, One Step Green Hero Calming Pad you can interchange the two but you need hydration now. The HA5 is great, I would recommend to follow with SkinMedica`s Redness Relief CalmPlex especially on areas of concern, but you can apply all over your face as well.
