Q Can infections like HPV cause bumps on the face/body? I've never had acne, but I've started to get these bumps all over- some of them are like blisters, that never heal, and I've heard that HPV infections occasionally cause acne-like bumps. Thank you.
A

Certain HPV infections can cause reactions such as warts (common, plantar, subungual/periungual and flat) on the body. In very rare cases and with patients that are immunocompromised HPV may cause a condition called epidermodysplasia verruciformis. This virus, if left untreated, causes the overproduction of keratin in skin cells resulting in lesions that look like warts. For more information and a proper diagnosis you would have to be seen by a physician in your local area.
