- Q I recently read the article "Understanding Skin Care Ingredients: Vitamins C, A, K and E" from the DermStore Blog. The article states that "It is important that you confirm your vitamin C product uses a stabilized form of vitamin C" Can you give me a list of stabilized forms of vitamin C to look for and a list of ones to avoid? Thanks so much!
- A
Look for these ingredients that are stabilized forms of vitamin C:
L-Ascorbic acid or ascorbic acid
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP)
Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP)A
scorbyl Palmitate
When you are using a Vitamin C product, make sure that is is stored correctly and sealed tight. Once oxygen gets to the ingredient, it will not be effective. Also be careful and look out for signs of sensitivity to vitamin C. A lot of people may have reactions to the ingredient at a high potency.
Best,
