Q Hi, I have been using 0.05% tretinoin cream on my face for the past three months to rid some sun spot near my mouth. Somehow, I got two episodes of angular cheilitis since then. I never had this problem before. I ready that oral use of isotretinoin is known to cause AC. But, can the topical use near the mouth area also cause AC? Thanks! Vivian
A

I have read in a few publications that tretinoin can induce angular cheilitis. It makes sense that topical tretinoin may induce this condition if used around the mouth area.
