What is mineral sunscreen?
Mineral sunscreen, also known as physical sunscreen, uses active mineral ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to create a protective barrier on the skin’s surface that deflects UVA and UVB rays. Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb UV radiation, mineral formulas begin working immediately upon application and are often preferred for sensitive or post-procedure skin. Future Mineral UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50 elevates this category with a next-generation formulation that offers lightweight SPF 50 protection tested on all skin tones—delivering visible anti-aging benefits without the white cast traditionally associated with mineral sunscreens.
Does sunscreen help anti-aging?
Yes, sunscreen helps anti-aging by protecting the skin from UV rays, which can lead to premature aging of the skin. It is important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day to help prevent photoaging signs like wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven skin tone.
What SPF is best for mature skin?
The best SPF for aging skin is SPF 30 or above. It is essential for the sunscreen to offer broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. You also want to look for sunscreens that include ingredients that help repair the skin barrier and promote skin cell regeneration, such as Niacinamide and Panthenol.
What is the best sunscreen for microneedling or chemical peels?
After treatments like microneedling or chemical peels, skin is especially vulnerable and requires gentle, non-irritating sun protection to damage from UV exposure. It is essential to choose a sunscreen that is broad-spectrum, mineral-based (to minimize sensitivity), and non-comedogenic. Additionally, the formula should be free of chemical filters, fragrances, and alcohol, and offer calming or reparative ingredients to support the skin’s recovery process.
