SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex .25 is formulated to renew the skin's tone and texture without irritating the skin. Retinol helps combat the signs of premature aging while magnolia bark extract soothes inflammation. Ideal for use twice a week to build tolerance to formula.

Apply in the evening after cleansing and toning and before applying your moisturizer. If a retinol product has never been used before, begin twice a week 2-3 days apart, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Apply to the entire face. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
Caution: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Mild redness, peeling and irritation are expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 30 or higher and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week following discontinuation.

First time using Retinol
This is my first time using retinol and I can definitely tell that it's working. My face is clearer with fewer breakouts and my skin looks so much better without makeup than it ever has! I haven't had any issues with peeling or redness with this product; I definitely think it was a good one to start with so my skin could get used to retinol. I highly recommend!

Nice and mild

Sensitive skin types be careful
I've given this a good try but it's not for me. If I use it every 4-5 days I can manage the dry patches, stinging and redness. Every time I've tried to use it every 3 days I can't tolerate it. I haven't had much improvement in pore size, skin texture or wrinkles. I'm going back to replenix.

Great so far!
I have really sensitive skin and started using the .25 a couple nights a week to introduce retinol to my routine. So far I haven't had any bad reactions and my skin seems to be softer with a more even tone. I have some fine lines around my eyes and on my forehead. I'm not sure if it has diminished those but it has only been a few weeks.

Little goes a long way
I use this every three to four days in the winter. My skin is on the dry side so flaking is likely if I don't slather on moisturizer. One small pump does the trip. Absorbs quickly and doesn't have an intrusive smell.

Reliable Retinol
This is a solid product. I do have to use an additional moisturizer. If you have sensitive skin, it's recommended that you apply moisturizer 10-20 minutes prior to this. Now I just add moisturizer on top of this. It's lasted a long time. The packaging feels luxurious, but I care about effectiveness more, which it is effective. If you've never used a retinol before, definitely start with this. Anything higher is going to be too strong. I had red patches and flaking in the beginning because it was too strong. Start out once a week with the moisturizer prep first and see how your skin reacts. Then build up to twice a week. Then try it with moisturizer on top. They say eventually you should use it daily, but I don't find it necessary. I'm glad it doesn't have added fragrance as that's an irritant. I have dehydrated, textured patches on my skin, but get oily in the t-zone. Using this in combination with an antioxidant cream and glycolic cream has improved my skin texture significantly. Make sure to follow the directions because it might be really irritating the first few uses. I am in mid 20's and have been using this for a few years now. Very happy. I noticed my textured patches are gone and my skin is smoother, much less clogged, less breakouts though I still get hormonal acne. I use this twice a week and use the glycolic on days I don't use this cream.

Good for young skin
