Formulated for skin tolerant to retinol treatments, it stimulates collagen production and enhances faster cell renewal to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Algae extract ensures skin is soft, hydrated and protected against free-radical damage.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.

Great Product
The serum does not leave any sticky or smelly residue and it goes on smoothly. I have not had any reactions to retinal before, so not sure if this product would work for people with sensitive skin.

Fantastic retinol, but start slow
I went from using the Avene natural retinol and occasional other products containing retinol to this. I went straight for the 0.5 and while I eased my way into using this slowly I probably should have stepped slower. This product has really cleared up my complexion and I have noticeably much smaller wrinkles on my forehead. Though the peeling the first couple weeks is annoying but pays off if you stick with a routine. Make sure you keep an exfoliant handy to alternate between nights.

Great for baby steps
I'm new to the retinol game so I tried to do my research before buying this, I read the reviews, etc. I decided to try the 0.5 strength first because my skin isn't very sensitive but I also didn't want to jump straight to the 1.0 since I've never used retinol before. I used the whole bottle of 0.5 but found that it didn't do much for my face. I have crazy sun damage to my forehead and cheeks with some melasma as well. However I only noticed light peeling around my eyebrows and chin area. The formula itself is light and has no scent, that I noticed anyway. I would use 1-2 pumps at night, sometimes with a moisturizer after and sometimes without it. I don't doubt that it works, I just think my skin is very resistant. I recently purchased the same stuff but in the 1.0 strength so we'll see how that one works out. I can already say that the 1.0 version is much stronger though. I accidentally swiped my hands down my neck one night after applying it to my face and the next day my neck was raw and so itchy! I had to super moisturize my neck for a few nights to heal it. Overall I would say the 0.5 version is a good baby step retinol to try, unless you have sensitive skin, then maybe start with a lower strength. P.S. When the bottle gets low or stops squirting out you can unscrew the lid and get any remaining product out, which is great. I hate when bottles are locked down and you don't know how much product is still inside going to waste...especially at this price.

This is a hardworking product
I have used prescription grad low dose Tretinoin for almost 4 years so my skin has finally learned to respond with more tolerance to retinoids, HOWEVER, OTC retinoids can still make me red and burn and peel for days so my skin is not bulletproof. (Although with the help of that tretinoin my forehead looks like it could deflect bullets seriously, get some kind of QUALITY retinoid in your life because it will shrink and minimize pores and help with fine lines. I think it is doing a good job in prevention as well. (yes I'm 40+)Anyhoo. This SkinMedica is my go-to when my tretinoin from my dermatologist runs out. I also use it on my "off days" 1 day with prescript tretinoin, I day with this retinol or some other product I had wanted to try. This is definitely a good product, no discernible fragrance, easy to apply, not tacky absorbs well and you can layer stuff on top without it pilling up, or beading it up, just give it a few minutes to skin in, and his has a nice light lotion texture. They usually run a special on SkinMedica a promo coupon in your email and sometimes online, wait for it and clean up!!! Just remember if you have sensitive skin, start slow!! Please!!! don;t make the mistake I made which was well if a little is good then a whole bunch more must be better right? Wrong, Please use it only 2 or 3 times a week at first, and do nice calming soothing lotions in between those days. Hold off on your vitamin c or niacin for a minute until you know for sure your skin tolerates this product and likes it. I hope this helps you! I have become a skincare junkie much to my dismay and there is NOTHING I hate more than spending money on stuff that doesn't work!! I will pay whatever and sell an organ to get a product that actually does what it says it does!! This is gentle and effective

A little too strong for me
