SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 0.5 enhances the skin's texture to promote a brighter, more youthful complexion. Formulated for skin tolerant to retinol treatments, it stimulates collagen production and enhances faster cell renewal to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Algae extract ensures skin is soft, hydrated and protected against free-radical damage.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
CAUTION: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant.

Goodbye hyperpigmentation!
I recently introduced this retinol to my nightly regime and am kicking myself for not doing this much earlier! I noticed it most significantly when I had a couple of breakouts and the hyperpigmentation after the breakout healed much quicker. I tend to have annoying hyperpigmentation after breakouts, but the time I had it was significantly reduced while using this product. My skin also looks so healthy! Definitely recommend it.

Caused combo skin to break out after 1 use
I look forward to trying this product a few more times, but am pretty sure it caused me to break out last night. I was using another brand Retinol Renewal product for the past week with no problems. Will update this review after I have tried it a little longer. This might work fine for other types of skin.

Great starter retinol
I purchased this product after using prescription strength retinols over the years for acne. Acne is no longer a problem but I still want the anti-aging benefits of a retinol. The 0.5 strength is good to start with. I started using it twice a week and continue to use every other night. It doesn't dry out my skin or leave it irritated.

Nice addition
So I just recently (within the last 6 months) really started investing in my skin care. This retinol and some vitamin c drops were the biggest changes, as well as being very consistent with my routine. I am seeing overall brighter, healthier looking skin, as well as reduced smile lines. I am still working through the first bottle at .25. It seems to last forever! I plan to go up to .5 next...one warning, make sure you use sunscreen! I absentmindedly wipes my hands on my neck after applying the retinol at night and forgot to cover my neck the next day. I paid for it with a legit burn that really hurt and took over a week to heal! Otherwise I recommend this product!

Effective retinol
I started using the 0.25 strength 9 months ago. Used it three times per week and advanced slowly to daily usage. I am using 0.5 strength now. In the beginning, there was some irritation and redness of skin, which is common with retinoid usage. Over time, my skin got acclimated to daily usage. Skin looks smoother, fine lines and pores have improved. My skin feels less oily. It has other natural extracts that act as antioxidants. Absorbs well. Good product overall.

This product really works. It is something I started using once a week because of the retinol and then progressed to twice a week and now every other day. My skin tone looks much smoother and I think a little firmer. I am in my sixties and wish I would have started using this earlier in my life. I highly recommend.
