SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 0.5 enhances the skin's texture to promote a brighter, more youthful complexion. Formulated for skin tolerant to retinol treatments, it stimulates collagen production and enhances faster cell renewal to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Algae extract ensures skin is soft, hydrated and protected against free-radical damage.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
CAUTION: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant.

Still getting used to it
I think this product is going to work well for me, but right now I'm having trouble getting past the redness and flaking it is causing. I'm only using it once a week at the moment to see if I can get my skin habituated to its use. The formulation feels great on my skin.

Great product, just ease into it!
This is my first experience with retinol and I decided to try it after listening to Elisabeth Smith PA on the Off the Vine podcast. You definitely have to ease into this retinol because it is high quality. I use it once every other night and honestly I probably should have started with the .25. I have very sensitive skin so it has taken 3 months for my skin to stop peeling after using it (nothing dramatic except for the first 2 weeks), but it is so worth it! I'm loving my skin!

Not a bad start to retinol
This was my first introduction to retinol products. Of course with any retinol you have to beginning skin adjustments, which were totally tolerable with this product. It doesn't feel heavy on my skin, and doesn't burn or anything of the sort. I think I have noticed a slight improvement in my skin since starting this product. So overall I think if you are a retinol newbie like me, and don't have super super sensitive skin, this is an ok place to start!

This is a great product. It makes my skin red the first night and then my skin peels for a couple of days so I recommend using it with a moisturizer if this happens. I've used the 1.0 and it's too harsh for my sensitive skin, The 0.5 is great.

I love this product. I use to use RetinA .05% and would always get lots of peeling and irritation. With this product I do not get the irritation and dry skin like I did with the RetinA. The only thing I don't like is that it is in a pump container that you can not open. I like to be able to get the most use of my products for the price.
