SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 0.5 enhances the skin's texture to promote a brighter, more youthful complexion. Formulated for skin tolerant to retinol treatments, it stimulates collagen production and enhances faster cell renewal to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Algae extract ensures skin is soft, hydrated and protected against free-radical damage.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
CAUTION: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant.

I'm obsessed
I love that SkinMedica has a few different strengths so you can start low and build up your tolerance.My skin looks PHENOMENAL and it's bc of ALL of the SkinMedica products I use daily. Is it expensive? Yes. BUT YOUR FACE IS WORTH IT.

Excellent exfoliation
I have used many different forms / brands of tretinoin (retinol). I even have a prescription from my dermatologist for it. But this one in particular has given me tons of exfoliation. After 2-3 days of use, I had peeling like I would after a TCA peel! Prior to using this strength, I was using the Skin Medica 0.25 retinol and really got no peeling or irritation at all, so once I emptied the bottle, I bumped up to the 0.5. It really didn't cause a lot of irritation or redness ( maybe a little around the nasial labial folds), but I noticed the peeling started within a few days of use. I went to the esthetician yesterday and she did dermaplaning to remove a lot of the dead skin and also to do some extractions, then she did a facial and mask to calm the skin. I am hoping I can work up to using this daily. I think I will buy another 0.25 bottle and use it in between the 0.5 until I get used to it. I think with regular use of the 0.5 my skin should be looking extra good! As a skin care JUNKIE I highly recommend this product!

Great Product
I ordered this for my mom as a starter retinol and it has worked fantastically so far. She has really sensitive skin which was not irritated at all and she has not seen any purging this far. But, she does use it only 2-3 times a week so far and with lots of moisturizer.
