horrible overall
1brokeout like crazy, bought because of the rave reviews and was hopeful this would solve my acne and allergy needs, but not at all drying, impossible to remove without harsh rubbing and made me breakout out and have allergic reaction! also it it tiny for the price it would only last a month maybe not if you re using it for spf needs
Report this reviewBest physical/zinc oxide sunscreen I have ever used
5I have tried zinc oxide-based sunscreens from many different brands: SkinCeuticals, EltaMD, Paula's Choice, MD Solarsciences... Replenix is the most cosmetically elegant out of all of them, by a significant margin (EltaMD is my favorite after Replenix). The Replenix applies without any pilling over my Vitamin C and hydrating products. It is non-drying and has a wonderful texture. Finally, there is no white cast as far as I can tell. Other sunscreens do not compare.

3OLD REVIEW: Just don't bother searching any longer, you won't find a better physical sunscreen than this. I've tried dozens of well-regarded physical sunscreens at great expense and much frustration, most lately SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion (which broke me out and felt greasy, despite its claim of being non-comedogenic, and even its tinted fluid leaves you washed out and ghoulish) and its identical (except for the iron oxide tint) sheer counterpart. EltaMD physical sunscreens would be great if they weren't formulated with comedogenic ingredients like oleth-3 phosphate and isopropyl palmitate. La Roche Posay's mineral sunscreen is an inferior formulation with strictly titanium dioxide, a blocker of a narrower spectrum of UVA radiation (deficient between 340 and 400 nm wavelengths) than zinc oxide. Shiseido (not sold here) makes excellent sunscreens as far as protection goes, so long as you don't mind looking whiter than the moon and having every imperfection accentuated as your skin parches over the course of the day. Shiseido sunscreens are also notoriously difficult to remove (thanks to their WetForce technology), requiring oil or at least several passes with a cleanser. Cerave is a wonderful manufacturer with reasonably-priced products, but their AM moisturizer with a hybrid of zinc oxide and octinoxate (a chemical blocker) is too greasy. Other physical sunscreens are usually hit-or-miss, too white or with an iron oxide tint that is tacky and perhaps orange or yellow, problematic especially for males whose faces contrast against their necks and ears if the tone isn't right. Some are combinations of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide that aren't as soothing or compatible with acne-prone complexions as a pure zinc oxide product, or a hybrid of zinc oxide and octinoxate (too greasy for oily skin and keeps skin warm throughout the day, absorbing UVA energy as opposed to reflecting it, thereby promoting pigmentation changes and flushing if you're prone to either). Zinc oxide is not only better broad-spectrum protection, it has anti-irritant properties that soothe the skin, which is why it's also used at slightly higher concentrations to treat skin sensitivity and irritation (you can purchase zinc oxide preparations at drug stores for this purpose). When you apply this product, it feels fantastic and keeps skin calm and balanced throughout the day. There is no white cast with this at all, even if you apply several layers as I do. This product also comes enriched with antioxidants like green tea polyphenols, ubiquinone (CoQ10), vitamin C (in two forms), resveratrol, and vitamin E. Comparable to this product (albeit more expensive) is the Glycolix Elite SPF 30 sunscreen also sold on Dermstore, with 17% zinc oxide. UPDATE: I've reduced my 5-star review to a 3-star review after having used this sunscreen every day for several years. It's no longer as cosmetically elegant, so to speak, whether that's due to a change in the product itself or merely a change in impression on my part. I find that it makes my face appear glossy and oily, and it traps perspiration during warmer months, causing a painful itchy sensation and transient blotchiness wherever it resists the passing of even a single bead of sweat (in my case, over my forehead). Conversely, when it rains it will run off and unsettle, leaving streaks when it re-dries (as it isn't water-resistant, although after attempting to wash it off you'd be convinced otherwise). I now use Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Face Dry-Touch SPF 50 sunscreen with 21.6% zinc oxide (versus Replenix's only 13.75%), available at drug stores like CVS and Rite Aid. It's only $12.99 for 2 ounces (versus Replenix at $32 for 2 ounces), it's water-resistant (for up to 80 minutes), it's non-comedogenic, and it confers a brilliant glow. It has a matte finish and works splendidly for sensitive skin, with colloidal oatmeal and feverfew as calming additives. I can't recommend it any more highly. Sometimes drug store products are superior.

5I have used this sunscreen twice, and I can say that it is the best physical sunscreen I have eve put on my face. Minimal to no white cast and an awesome matte finish, even with a few layers of moisturizing products under it. I highly recommend it.
Report this reviewFantastic Physical Sunscreen
5I love this product. It has a high enough zinc concentration that I know it works, and doesn't leave a white cast. Application is easy and doesn't require tugging on my skin like so many other sunscreens. The scent is non-existent and my makeup goes on smoothly over this product. I'd love it even more if I could buy a larger size container!

Report this reviewPerfect daily face sunscreen
5I have very sensitive skin, but this sunscreen doesn't irritate my skin at all! Even though there's a high amount of zinc oxide, it doesn't leave a white cast. It goes on very smoothly, and doesn't impact my makeup. Love it!
Report this reviewThe best mineral sunscreen!
5This wonderful zinc sunscreen goes on clear and has a matte finish (no oily slick and no waiting 30 minutes for it to dry/sink in). No streaks, no fuss. It acts as a primer too; it provides a smooth and even canvas. I can put on my mineral makeup within a couple minutes after applying this sunscreen. I have an oily T-zone and normal/dry cheeks (fair, sensitive combination skin), and have had no irritations or break outs. Feels very soothing on my sensitive skin. Works extremely well; I have not had a sunburn, or even a tan on my face, when I wear this out in the direct sun all day.
Report this reviewNot for my oily skin
3I like the SPF in this product and is was fine when I used it on my neck and décolleté but I could not use it on my face as it made my oily skin breakout. I had wanted another product from this company when I bought this product but there were out of stock. The customer service person told me this would work just as well.
Report this reviewOne of the best suncscreens I've used.
4Blends wonderfully into my skin without leaving any white cast. It can get grainy if not applied properly. But overall it's a great product.
