SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 0.5 enhances the skin's texture to promote a brighter, more youthful complexion. Formulated for skin tolerant to retinol treatments, it stimulates collagen production and enhances faster cell renewal to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Algae extract ensures skin is soft, hydrated and protected against free-radical damage.

- PhytoShield™ Complex: an antioxidant complex, enhances skin texture and minimizes irritation

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
CAUTION: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant.

Gentle Retinol
Recently upgraded from Skinceuticals .3 to this, and am using it every night for about.a week. It's been a gentle enough so far that I've had no redness or flaking. I can't say that would be the case if your skin was not used to a lower dosage, but it's been nice to not go through an initial drying period in the first week. Skin looks fresher since upgrading as well, but am noticing some purging.

I have been using this for about 10 years . My dermatologist recommended it . It is a must for your skin care routine . It evens out tone and texture. If you are new to retinol start with the .25 and work your way up . I tried 1.0 my skin peeled a lot and got red so for me the .5 is perfect

I bought my first SkinMedica retinol in the 0.25 back in December, tolerated it well, and decided to move up to the 0.5 for the next bottle. The 0.25 bottle lasted me nearly 3 months, so I'm hoping the 0.5 lasts just as long! I personally have not experienced any irritation from either bottle! My skin is on the drier side and is fairly sensitive/somewhat acne-prone, and my skin seems to love this retinol. I already am noticing much quicker skin turnover and feel like it has helped reduce scarring noticeably already within the first week of use. Wish it weren't as pricey but still very happy!
