I purchased this item based on other reviews and I am very satisfied. Even though it contains zinc, it does not leave a white film on your skin as so many other zinc products do. It glides on and protects very well.

I like that it did not irritate my skin or cause a breakout and the lightweight texture. I have rosacea and this was recommended by my derm. It did leave my skin feeling dry even when I layered w/lotion on top.

Not your average Holy Grail
I typically don't throw out HG willy nilly because I believe our skincare routines change, then suddenly your "holy grail" gets shelved, thus debunking your previous claim. To me, a true Holy Grail is one you come back to again and again; it will always be in your routine. Everyone will ALWAYS need and benefit from this product. First of all, we should all be wearing SPF every day. You can still get a healthy color through SPF, you just don't have to burn and cause further sun damage to get "sun-kissed". Daily SPF should be in all of our routines when you consider how much our skin is exposed to harmful UV rays. Simply just sitting in our cars, the sun shines through. Anti-aging products and procedures are costly and sometimes ineffectual. The simplest, most effective, and affordable anti-aging solution is prevention. SPF is a great start. If you're using retinol, SPF is required. So now you're on board the SPF train- but with that comes the dilemma of choosing mineral or physical. For those who don't know, physical SPF works by reflecting the UV rays off of your skin. Think of the old lifeguard nose with pure zinc oxide. Now, as iconic as that look is, most of us can't pull that off. Traditional zinc based products leave a white cast, despite their efforts to achieve the contrary. Many makeup products with tinted SPF still leave flashback- that's likely because they contain a physical SPF; the skin-toned tint will take care of the white cast, but the flash of a camera will leave you looking ghostly. The solution for all of this is Elta MD UV Clear, literally dermatologist recommended. It's not just a stamp they put on their products (ahem, drugstore brands), it truly is widely recommended by dermatologists, including my own. I have inflammatory rosacea (specifically a very angry patch on my cheek) and my provider recommended I wear this every day. He mentioned that it's also great for acne prone skin. The key is to wear it every single day, whether you plan on being outdoors or not. It is ideal to build good habits. Applying this daily will become second nature, and when you are exposed to sun you'll be covered. UV Clear is also beneficial when indoors, due to zinc being a natural anti-inflammatory. It does seem to help calm my skin down. It calms by reducing redness and not angering my hostile spot that is prone to pustules and raised inflammation. In summary- This leaves no white cast at all. It doesn't have that traditional sunscreen smell to it. It's not oily, so it's perfect under makeup. Elta MD does offer a tinted option for the UV Clear but I prefer the untinted version for everyday use. For makeup days, a great little hack is that I purchased Drunk Elephant's D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops. A tiny drop added to UV Clear gives you a natural and believable glow to match your healthy SPF protected skin.

Great sunscreen for acne-prone skin
This was my first time purchasing a sunscreen that specifically stated it was for acne-prone skin. I typically avoided wearing SPF on my face unless I knew I would be outside for an extended amount of time because most facial sunscreens available at the store were oily and broke me out. This one goes on very light and is not oily and hasn't made me break out. I might try the tinted version next! The one negative is it does smell like sunscreen, but it isn't an overwhelming smell since it is only on your face.

Best sunscreen for sensitive and acne-prone skin! Does have a bit of white cast, but it has physical sunscreen so it's understandable. Never broke me out and I get tanned pretty fast, but with this sunscreen never got any color on my face even after spending long hours under the sun.

My favorite sunscreen
I never gave much thought to the sunscreen I was applying to my face and usually bought whatever was convenient was at the drugstore. I am very fair with a ton of face freckles and a history of skin cancer, so as I've gotten older I've come to understand the importance of daily sunscreen. I saw this sunscreen had great reviews and decided to try it out. This product is a must-have for me as it goes on like a moisturizer and does not clog my pores, while doing the most important thing which is preventing my face from getting burnt.
