Brighten and balance your skin tone with SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense, a dark spot corrector that reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, medical procedures or acne.
Formulated with 3% Tranexamic Acid, 1% Kojic Acid, 5% Niacinamide, and 5% HEPES, the treatment targets stubborn brown patches and post-inflammatory discolouration to even the skin tone and help to minimise the appearance of future marks with continued use. In as little as two weeks, the complexion will be unified, radiant and visibly healthier-looking.
Suitable for all skin types.
Free from parabens, silicones, fragrances, gluten and hydroquinone.
Due to the concentration of Kojic acid in this formula, a shift in color is expected. This could lead to a light brown or amber color, but the formula remains effective.
Twice daily, apply three to five drops to face. For morning use, apply after a SkinCeuticals vitamin C serum and follow with a SkinCeuticals broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product. Do not use on irritated or broken skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

On the fence
I am on the fence about this one. I use it twice a day religiously: morning, 30 minutes after Obagi 20% C serum, and evening before retinol. It has been three months, and I think my face may be a little more even toned, but I have acne scars from my youth and post acne hyperpigmentation from the one large cystic pimples I tend to get once every couple of months to contend with. The one spot of post pimple pigmentation that arrived just as I started using this serum has faded, but it may just be the normal fading timeline and not related to the serum. I just ordered a new bottle since mine is on its last drops, so we will see how another 3 months goes.

Discoloration defense has been a must have for me for a couple years. It has helped keep my skin tone even and bright and is the perfect complement to in office procedures I like to have done such as Clear & Brilliant treatments. Works well but a bit pricey!
So far I have seen decent results from the product however I think you have to use this for several months in order for the effects to really show. For the pricepoint, it's a bit hard to justify but since I've heard so many great things I plan to keep up the routine (pairing this with discoloration defense) in hopes that it will continue to brighten and even out my skin tone. The smell isn't as bad to me as some of the other reviewers say it is!

I really want to love it
