SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 0.5 enhances the skin's texture to promote a brighter, more youthful complexion. Formulated for skin tolerant to retinol treatments, it stimulates collagen production and enhances faster cell renewal to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Algae extract ensures skin is soft, hydrated and protected against free-radical damage.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
CAUTION: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant.

I love this product. It's not too strong so my face has an allergic reaction. It is just the right level to plump up my skin and help with the fine lines. It's a bit pricey and is why I gave it 4 stars. However it lasts a long time as it isn't necessary to use every day, only 2x a week is sufficient.

My journey with skin medica began 5 years ago. My dermatologist initially started me on the Lytera then the .25 retinol. I then progressed to the .5 and 1.0. I must say the .5 has been the best at removing and lightning my dark spots and reduced with my oil production leading to fewer adult hormonal breakouts. I use it in the morning and before bed and my skin has tightened up in a very good way, like I had mini face lift. The 1.0 has been too strong For me overall but I do use it on darker spots occasionally. And the bottle lasts forever!!! Money well spent.

I started using this cream, first 1 time per week, then 2 times, then 3, and now I use it every other day. I alternate it with Glycolix Elite Facial Cream. I am very pleased with the result !! My skin has never been so clean and smooth. Small wrinkles on the forehead and near the lips have smoothed out. How will this cream end I will buy the same, but with retinol 1%. My skin is already aged, I am 51 years old and I am very pleased with this cream and the result that it gives.

Deceptively strong
I went through a whole bottle of Skinmedica's Retinol 0.25 without issue and thought I was ready for the 0.5. This one is deceptively strong. I had to back off to once a week, but at least I can tell it's working.

Gentle product
This was my first retinol product and I used it for several weeks already. It made me break out which is expected since it drives all the impurities to the surface of the skin. It only lasts for the first 2 weeks. After the that the skin is left looking smoother and younger. I would recommend this product for the beginners. And later you can switch to more concentrated ones.
