SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 1.0 enhances the skin's appearance to promote a smoother, rejuvenated complexion. Formulated for skin types pre-conditioned to retinol treatments, it minimizes the appearance of age spots and wrinkles. It also improves elasticity and works effectively to visibly reduce acne scars. Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.

Professional-grade product!
I have skin that is accustomed to retinol having used drugstore varieties, then Skinsceuticals 1.0 retinol and now SkinMedica 1.0 retinol. Both Skinceuticals and SkinMedica are excellent products, however, after reading the ingredients, it seems this product is even more beneficial to skin. I have just begun using this SkinMedica and can tell it is strong and I have no adverse reaction except perhaps, I have to be gentle to my face to avoid irritation, which has not occurred. Although expensive, it has potent ingredients and only a very tiny amount is needed so it appears it will last a long time. For sure I wouldn't use any exfoliating bead washes while using this product, which would not be needed anyway because it causes faster cell turnover. A wonderful product, I can't think of a better anti-aging treatment for the skin (with sunscreen of course, being prevention!)

This actually improved my skin
I have horrible skin from ance and the sun but this product along with my other regimen has improve my skin. I use a little in the morning under my makeup and my skin has never ever looked better than now in my 50s. My scars are not as prominent and I have less breakouts. It does take a some timet for your skin to adjust. Initially my skin did breakout a little bit more than usual using it at night 2-3 times a week. Then the breakouts stopped and started using it in the mornings instead on a daily basis. After countless products and dermatologists this cream actually works!

Best retinol there is.
This is possibly the best formulated, high concentration retinol on the market. This one goes beyond marketing nonsense to include antioxidants, peptides, niacinamide, etc. to create a product that rivals even prescription retinoids. As someone who has used prescription products, this retinol is not only just as effective, it's far better for skin and has bells and whistles that NO prescription retinol has. You could argue this is expensive, but you could argue that this is a lot of skincare products in one. It's really impressive. Retinol takes a bit of getting used to, but once your skin becomes acclimated the results are really noticeable. Not only do breakouts slow down or cease, skin becomes smoother, and even more "normal," if you your skin is oily like mine. In my experience, the greatest, and most noticeable results come from using a retinol product. I have never used one that's as good, much less better, than this.

After researching retinol products, I purchased this serum and have been very happy with the results. I've started using the product two nights per week, as is recommended in the directions. I have experienced a little dryness as a result, but my skin is beginning to adjust. If you have sensitive skin, however, you might consider using a product with a weaker concentration.

Hands Down, The Worst Thing I've Ever Used on My Skin
I worked my way up to this from the 0.5 concentration over the course of many months. How I duped myself into staying on it for as long as I did I don't know (I suppose you forget what normal skin looks like), but yesterday I quit and I will NEVER use this or anything like it again. If you'd like a face full of acne and hyper-pigmentation that'll have you home-bound most days of the week, reliving the acne nightmare of your teenage years, unable to face the world to meet your work or school obligations, wallowing in isolation at great cost to your emotional wellbeing, then this is the product for you. I saw no benefits whatsoever for all the misery. Since I quit I look so much better. The acne is resolving, almost overnight, and my skin glows again. I will never put my life on hold again for a skin product.

Love this product!
I had been using the .5 Retinol Complex and just made the move up to 1.0 after my dermatologist suggested I do so. The 1.0 is noticeably stronger and there is the normal adjustment period for your skin. That being said, I love this and can already notice a difference in the tone and texture of my skin.

My favorite Retinol Product
Great Product. It really works. Makes my skin smooth and soft. I always had bad skin with sun damage and acne. Now I actually get compliments. This product may cause peeling so start slow and with a lower strength. Skip a few days between use and use a moisturizer. Work yourself up to everyday use. Don't give up just because your skin starts peeling. It's worth it!
