Brighten and balance your skin tone with SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense, a dark spot corrector that reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, medical procedures or acne.
Formulated with 3% Tranexamic Acid, 1% Kojic Acid, 5% Niacinamide, and 5% HEPES, the treatment targets stubborn brown patches and post-inflammatory discolouration to even the skin tone and help to minimise the appearance of future marks with continued use. In as little as two weeks, the complexion will be unified, radiant and visibly healthier-looking.
Suitable for all skin types.
Free from parabens, silicones, fragrances, gluten and hydroquinone.
Due to the concentration of Kojic acid in this formula, a shift in color is expected. This could lead to a light brown or amber color, but the formula remains effective.
Twice daily, apply three to five drops to face. For morning use, apply after a SkinCeuticals vitamin C serum and follow with a SkinCeuticals broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product. Do not use on irritated or broken skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

Lightweight serum
I have only been using this a few weeks and I do notice a very faint difference in the tonality of my dark spots. I do not think I have been on it for as long as necessary to show some real results so I'll check back in here after a few months go by. I use it once in the morning after washing and before moisturizing. I also use a retinoid at night. The study listed along with the product states 12 weeks so I'll update my review at that point. I do use a sunscreen on the weekends, but I work in a lab so I don't get into the sun during the week at all. My dark spots always show up after I go in the sun only once without adequate protection.

Haven't seen results
I've been using this for a few weeks, and haven't seen many results. I will continue to try it out to see if i notice a difference. But with Melasma, i haven't seen much of a difference!

magic product for blemishes
I used a sample of this for two weeks straight, and it significantly eased my acne scars and made my skin look fairer and smoother, also less oily in the t zone! It's well worth the price tag and I'll invest in a full size product in the near future.

Very good for preventing dark spots
I was on a hydroquinone (contrary to popular opinion, this is actually a very safe ingredient for skincare, look into the study analysis for more details!), retinoic acid, hydrocortisone, and kojic acid compound cream prescribed by my dermatologist for very severe hyperpigmentation and acne scars. Once the scars had been essentially eliminated from my face, my dermatologist recommended this serum to prevent future pigmentation from acne. I have been using this for the past 3 months and have had great results with it. While it does not particularly reduce current pigmentation, it definitely prevents future pigmentation from occurring. I also have a darker complexion and am extremely prone to scarring. The diligent use of this serum along with sunscreen has helped to prevent future scarring very well. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to prevent scarring and pigmentation!

Great for discoloration
It is lightening my stubborn discoloration in just few weeks of use. Skin is more even, brighter. It's less harsh than some other products with the same brightening benefits.

This product was not effective at all for my deep hyperpigmentation around my mouth area. I really wanted it to work given other products from SkinCeuticals have suited me.

Pretty good so far
I have several discoloration spots on my face that my annual IPL doesn't help, so I decided to try this. I've been using the Discoloration Defense for about 3 weeks, so it is a little early for a judgement call - that's why I choose 4 stars. There does seem to be some reduction in the discoloration on my face. I took pictures when I started and will compare when I reach the 6 week mark. I have also been using it on the back of my hands and that does appear to be quite successful. I have high hopes for the spots on my face.

Too soon to tell
I've had this serum for a couple of weeks so I feel like it's a little too soon to make a decision on it . I have not seen any drastic improvements and my first week of using it I started to break out with cystic pimples which is rare for me. I was talking to my esthetician who does acne treatments on my face (&swears by Skinceuticals ) and does not think this product specifically would break me out . She also said it takes time for this to really start seeing results . So I'll wait a couple of more weeks to see how I really feel about the discoloration defense.
